Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Can't remove buttons from TabbedUI Button Panel

Well now this is one I don't want to spend all night on so I'm coming here a little quicker than usual:

I have an extensive TabbedUI, and customer just asked for a few buttons on the Button Panel to be removed.

    Adding a Show/Hide expression didn't change anything.

So I tried moving the buttons to a whole new container at the bottom of the panel. Nada. The buttons still display in their original position, even though they now have a show/hide expression of 1=2, and they're all moved to another separate container.

I've re-started the server, re-started my Firefox browser, and then even went to Chrome to confirm: they're right where they started!

And yes, I've published and re-published a dozen times, making sure to clear the publishing history, uncheck "publish new or changed only."

    Now what?

That probably would and usually does do the job gandhi. But in this case, I want to preserve the buttons in case my client wants to use them again, so I want them for future use and reference. So, I should be able to either hide them or move them to a hidden container, but don't seem to be able to do either.

Re: Can't remove buttons from TabbedUI Button Panel

Do they hide and are moved in Working Preview? If yes, but not live, then for sure it is not getting published.

Whenever you modify and save a component, Alpha updates the corresponding .manifest and .compiled file. These compiled versions are what Alpha publishes and NOT your actual a5wcmp files. I routinely delete all of those files so they are re-generated from scratch.

Another option for hiding; I have a standard security group named Hide that I assign objects to in order to hide them. Worked before they had hide/show options everywhere.

put the buttons you want disabled into a tab control

set the tab control show/hide to 1=2

if they're already in a tab control, set the Show Pane to not check-marked

Well, I resorted to the big red "X" to remove the buttons. I also updated the manifests (Edit / Bulk Operation / Update compiled files...) and the buttons are still right where they started. Hmmm...

I spent all night on the same type of problem, but I discovered hours later that I was publishing to the demo server, which had an almost identical address. A silly newbie mistake on my part, and I am sure you would not make this mistake, but I thought it was worth throwing out there.

Been there, done that J.R. More than once too - can you believe we're so dumb sometimes? But, not the case this time. I'm updating scores of files on this site tonight and so far I've managed everything else up as needed.

I believe it Steve, and I prove how dumb I can be more and more everyday. Your issue is really weird, so when you figure it out, please post it, cause I attract weird stuff like this. Good luck.

                        Hi Steve

It may be strange but instead of using '1=2' try '2=1' it works for me!!!

                        cheers

Steve change the css of the tabbedui. Publish and try it out.
Stupid question maybe but have you tried an f5 to do a refresh on the browser sometimes they like to hold onto old versions of pages.
Next if that doesnt work try opening the tabbedui page a5w i mean and put a simple text at the top.
If that doesnt go then something is definitely not publishing to the right webroot.

Are you having fun yet or still?

Well, I'm pretty sure something's broken in the TabbedUI but I can't figure what. And no way do I want to try to rebuild this one.

When I try for working preview, I get Error:Script:A5W Code line:87 Property not found rtc.classMapResolved subelement not found.

If I uncheck the "Resolve class map at runtime it works, and I can even assign different styles to the local version. But even a reassigned style isn't making it to the server, to say nothing of the fact that the three buttons I'm trying to remove are still there.

                              hello again
disclaimer: i am using version 10.5 (4349-3712)and this is version 11 form.
                              just out of curiosity
                              i tried
                              show/hide server side 1=2
and the button disappears on live preview and as well as published on to the server.
                              then i removed the expression
                              the buttons reappeared.
if anything broken it could be in version 11.
                              strange.
