Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Quick Response and Solution from Alpha

I must say I am very impressed with the quick response and solution I received from Alpha, specifically Richard and Selwyn.

Two days ago I requested a way to refresh a listview in a dialog once the record was saved, while still remaining on the same record. Today it was resolved, and the listview would refresh with the changes, but it didn't resort the listview. One more email about that and I just received a reply stating it will be in the pre-release in the morning.

I know we all throw the negative comments out there when we are stressed out trying to find a solution, but we should also share the positive experiences. Two days to resolve this truly impressed me. So many thanks to Richard, Selwyn and the Alpha Team who worked on this.

I have had a few similar experiences with the folks at Alpha and I hold them in very high regard indeed. There are very few professional software developers that match this level of commitment to their customers, at least not in my experience. They are truly in a league of their own.
You are so right about the negative comments sometimes bandied about due to frustration. They should receive kudos when appropriate as well.

I am glad to see these positive comments too.
Did you contact them by phone or through this forum? Are those paidsupport services?

I also have general good experience in this forum with the aphaholics such as David. However I might need direct alpha help on some stability problems especially with Ajax runtime script error. I found them illusive and hard to pinpoint. If you have good aplha5 contact would you mind sharing them? With contact phone or email would be great.

Re: Quick Response and Solution from Alpha

I sent an email asking if it could be done. They requested a video to demonstrate the issue, and within a very short time, I got a response from Richard and Selwyn.
It did not cost a cent.
Edwin, i just went through the normal channels of sending an email. I did not call them, they called me, but I would not be comfortable posting the number on my caller ID.
Most of my issues have been resolved on this message board by any one of the many users. I have received a ton of help on here, advice, solutions and suggestions. I would not be very far if it were not for this message board.
Before escalating an issue to an email or call to Alpha, check here, and 99% of the time you will find your solution. I have learned a lot about the search function on here, which has helped me find what i am looking for before posting a new thread.

Many thanks to the ones on here who take the time to help people like me who are trying to learn Alpha.

          Jim,
Thanks to your response. I agree that we should try to get solutions here as alpha staff are busy people.
I too have been using this forum a lot

I recently posted my issue title 'Ajax unstable' and described the issue with a screen capture.
I am praying for some help to come soon.
