Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

How can I set a field value for all repeating rows from within the dialog

I have a dialog component with ten repeating rows, each row is an entry of a transaction and it has a transaction date field. I would like the user to be able to set a initial date to display in the repeating rows. I have field called Set_Date above the repeating row container where the users can select the desired date. I would then like that date to populate the Transaction_Date field in the repeating rows.

I have tried this with Java Script methods for set and get but it will only set one row or a specific row.

I have also tried setting the selected date to a session variable and calling that session variable in the default/initial value property for the repeating row. This works but it does not refresh the rows with the new date. I have to exit the component then the session variable is picked up and displayed. I have tried refresh commands but with no luck, I still get whatever was in the session variable last.

I even tried a show hide on the container so that the container would only display once the default date had been set, but I still get the old date.

    1. Is there a simpler way to do this?
    2. How can I refresh the Default Value or set a value to all rows?

    Thanks

I haven't tested this very thoroughly, but you might try calculated field expression.

Set the calculated field expression for 'Transaction_Date' in the repeating section to 'Set_Date'. I'm not sure if the user will be able to edit the individual rows (I think they will), but it will set them for you when the 'Set_Date' field is changed.

      Hi Dan,

Thanks, but I don't think that will work in this case. Even though I am setting the Transaction_Date value I still need the users to adjust the date if needed. I need something that will cause the grid to reinitialize and to pull the new session variable to the default value.

        Solved.,

I think I was trying to do too much in one Dialog. I created Dialog 1 which just has the date picker and sets the Session Variable through an Ajax callback. After the call back Dialog 2 is opened which contains my date entry repeating rows and now shows the default date which was entered in the first dialog. It's one more window than I would have liked but it works.
