Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Going back to post#2 above, this fixes it:

    Code:
    <!--Table - Vertical Layout -->
    <table>
        <tr>
            <td style="vertical-align:top;">
                {grid.Search_Part}
            </td>
        </tr>

        <tr>
            <td style="vertical-align:top;">
                Part Detail<br>
                {grid.Grid_Part}
            </td>

            <td style="vertical-align:top;">
                Part Attributes<br>
                {LinkedContentSection:ATTRIBUTES}
            </td>

        </tr>

        <tr>
            <td style="vertical-align:top;">
                {grid.DetailView_Part}
            </td>
        </tr>
    </table>

    <table>
        <tr>
            <td style="vertical-align:top;">
                {LinkedContentSection:PICS}
            </td>
        </tr>
    </table>

    <table>
        <tr>
            <td style="vertical-align:top;">
                Interchange<br>
                {LinkedContentSection:ATTRI}
            </td>
            <td style="vertical-align:top;">

      Border.JPG

      Thanks for the replies Guys,

      Above is what I have with the Red Areas being the problem.

      Peter, I am a little confused as to what I need to do with that code. I think it is something to do with the Master Tempalte wich I haven't amended before.

        Hi Chris,

        Typically you put your linked content in a freeform section. But if you use the master template w. diff. HTML tables you can control the border size that way. Give it a try.

          It happened to me that when running the grid alone, the linked grid has a different name than running it inside a TabbedUI, you have to look for the name given to the linked grid inside the Tabbed UI and you'll get it.

            $('TBI_DLG_MOVIE__20137UUET_GRDMOVIECOVER_LCS_MOVIEINFO.0.PANE').style.borderStyle = 'none';
            turns off the box around the linked grid in my tabbed ui. So, you need to find the right name of your published, resolved tabbed ui linked grid.
            Thanks to everyone for contributing to this thread! I know this revives a long dead thread, but I thought I'd mention that in implementing this solution, I discovered that you can use {grid.componentname} for the first part of the linked content/grid name:

            Code:
            $('{grid.componentname}_LCS_MOVIEINFO.0.PANE').style.borderStyle = 'none';
            Of course, you'll want to replace MOVIEINFO with the name of your Linked Content Section (aka, LCS). I found it most useful to reference the linked content this way because my Grid's name changed a few times during publishing. Also --- in doing it like this it will work in both the Live Preview & Published versions.

            Also, I have my linked content section in my grid's detail view part. I had to add the borderStyle code in the onDetailViewRender and afterDetailViewNewRecord events to hide the border in both instances --- actually, in my afterDetailViewNewRecord event, I hide the linked content since it can't exist for a new record!

            Happy Day!

              This is my case... I have a linked grid inside another linked grid... and all of them are inside a Tabbed UI. How do I get rid of the box of the most inner grid of all? Every time the page is opened that inner linked grid gets a random name... I tried the grid.componentname method but no luck... I don't know if I'm substituting it the right way. Here I will post the name it gets in one of the load and the bold character will be the random part:

              INFOPAGE_GRDPROFESORBIO_WBVI_P3_R1__UNBOUND_LINKEDGRID_1_G_R1.0.PANE

                I can't tell where you tried to use {grid.componentname}. For anyone who doesn't know (or forgot): you put the code to hide the border for an embedded grid inside the grid it is embedded within. Only then will {grid.componentname} resolve to the correct name. Else, you're totally hosed and have to reference the embedded grid with a static string.

                It's not always easy to identify which name is the grid and which is something else. The whole reason I went with {grid.componentname} in the first place is that the name for the component I was trying to hide the box on was changing! I then figured out it was the grid's name --- the last half of the component name did not change (thus indicating that the name of an embedded grid remains unchanged inside a grid.)

                I can't tell you what part of your ID is the {grid.componentname}. But I can share with you how to figure that out:

                1. Take your best guess and replace part of the string (example string: 'INFOPAGE_GRDPROFESORBIO_WBVI_P3_R1__UNBOUND_LINKEDGRID_1_G_R1.0.PANE') with {grid.componentname} --- it's probably everything up to the name of your embedded/linked grid, which, for embedded grids in a grid, that name is usually something similar to '_UNBOUND_LINKEDGRID_1'; Linked Content Sections contain the string 'LCS' in their name.:

                Code:

                // onGridRenderComplete
                // This would go in the events onDetailViewRender and afterDetailViewNewRecord events if you want to hide
                // the border for an embedded grid in a detail view...
                $('{grid.componentname}_UNBOUND_LINKEDGRID_1_G_R1.0.PANE').style.border = 'none';
                2. Run it in Firefox with Firebug! If you did it right, the box disappears. If you did it WRONG, you'll see a javascript error in the Console - All tab (click to view image; sorry it's so tiny):

                TypeErrorStyleUndefined.png
                Note: if Firebug's Console - All window is not open when you launch the grid in Firefox, open it and refresh the page to see results.

                3. On Error: Look at the name in the error message & compare it to the original name. Make adjustments (add/remove text) and repeat step 2.

                You *should* be able to figure out which part of the string is the grid's name and which is the embedded grid's name after running through this process once or twice. In my case, when I did this with an embedded grid, I needed to add an extra underscore after {grid.componentname}. Which I think is the same situation you have here.

                I hope this is helpful!

                        Re: How to remove the box around Linked Grids\Content

                        heads up: this has now been solved in v12 as of prerelease 1684-4192

                        no more border if there is only one child linked object.
                        if there are two or more you get a standard tab control which puts a border on each tab pane.
                        if you want a border when there is only one linked object then just go to the master template and put the linked content section in a div that has a border.
