Unix date/time conversion

I have searched the wiki and the forum, but I just can't seem to find the answers.

The app I am working on needs to read from and write to timestamp values in another MySQL database that uses the Unix time format, e.g 1200319114 = 1/14/2008

In the A5 app, I want to be able to display the timestamp from the other database as 1/14/2008 and when a record is created or modified in the A5 app, take the now() value and store it in the other database as the Unix value.

I just can't seem to wrap my head around where/how to go about this although I know that the Unix value is based upon the number of seconds since 01/01/1970 00:00:00. Any and all direction will be greatly appreciated

Update:

I did some more digging and found that these functions are now available in the current pre-release Build 2669-3921 - Released - 9-May-2012 -8:00 AM:

time_to_unixTimeStamp() Function - Converts a time value to a UNIX time stamp - number of seconds since 1-Jan-1970.
unitTimeStamp_to_tome() Function - Converts a UNIX time stamp (number of seconds since 1-Jan-1970) to a time value.
