Hi all
I really hope someone can help me out here - as a newcomer to Alpha 5 i'm following the Total Training V11 video's and I seem to have hit an issue with the first task it covers.
I am trying to define an AlphaDAO connection but whenever I try to Build the connection string, I am getting an Error dialogue as follows (could not connect to your database client software.........etc )
alphadaoerror.jpg
I don't even get through to the Connection Type to select Access or MySQL etc. If I click OK on the Error dialogue as it pops up, I can then select the Connection Type then, and if I select Access (or any other DB) The Error dialogue pops up again. Also, in the Connection Type dialogue, none of the Options are available.
alphadaoerror2.jpg
I can get the ADO Connections work and I can select any ODBC connection I have defined.......Only problem is Web Applications don't like ADO connections and they wont work with Ajax.
I haven't even been able to select a DAO data source yet, so I am wondering if I need to do anything to enable AlphaDAO? I am running Alpha 5 V11 on Windows 7 64 bit. I researched the issue most of last night and the only common theme I can find is that DAO is not recommended on Windows 7 64 Bit. If this is the case, how should I define a database for web applications with codeless Ajax?
Cheers
Andy
