Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Checkbox Select Column - result to Report for printing

Cannot get selected "CHECKBOX" records to show in report.

Grid has a "Action Buttons" in the navigation bar labeled - PrintReport. The javascript action is Open a Report. Filter= is set to two fields

I tried without a filter on the report and receive all records.

When I put a filter on the action button that opens a report it shows one record.

I also placing another Action before Open Report Action using an In-line Javascript Action code of {grid.Object}.filterCheckedRows(); which also didn't work.

How can I have several selected records print out in the report ?

The report does have a Filter: isnull(Delrec)
    The database is MS Sql

    thanks,

Perhaps it would help to use CurrentGridFilter() as your filter? You can read about that in the tips for filtering the report or in the Alphapedia here: http://wiki.alphasoftware.com/Curren...rentGridFilter

      Carol,

The {grid.Object}.filterCheckedRows() does filter but only returns one row....

      Thanks for the suggestion.

I also changed from the double to single quotes for the SQL... still only one record display in report.

      (INSRECNUM = '{insrecnum}' ) .and. (IMAGE1 = '{image1}' )

Re: Checkbox Select Column - result to Report for printing

        Foxfire shows the ro.filter as...

        ro.filter = \'INSRECNUM = \\\'\'+GRID1_GridObj._getValue(\'G\',\'INSRECNUM\',rowNum)+\'\\\'\';\n

        I am not seeing my filter at all: (INSRECNUM = '{insrecnum}' ) .and. (IMAGE1 = '{image1}' )

        Any suggestions ?

Re: Checkbox Select Column - result to Report for printing

          hello

when you are using checkbox to filter records {grid.Object}.filterCheckedRows() as inline javascript should bring all the selected records. when you are filtering by checkbox selection using currentGridFilter() function in the action javascript print record will not work, or at least has not worked for me. i don't know how alpha interprets currentGridFilter(). you need to write your own code to print selected records. if you do that yes you can print checkbox selected records.
(currentGridFilter() works well if you use search form and select some field to filter the record)

              Appreciate the input

Documentation below says the filter with a report is possible.... Just cannot find what I am doing incorrectly.

Grid Methods - New {grid.Object}.filterCheckedRows() Method

Allows you to search for the records in the Grid that were checked. For example, say the user checks 3 rows in in the Grid. After executing this method, a search will be performed and just the 3 checked records will be selected. If you then run a report, or export to Excel (for example) in which you specify the report or export should operate on the current selection of records, you will in effect be operating on the records that were checked by the user.

Re: Checkbox Select Column - result to Report for printing

                      Quick Solution... Two Steps...

                      Create two Action Buttons.

                      ButtonFilter Javascript: {grid.Object}.filterCheckedRows();
ButtonReport: Open a Report Action then set filter to " CurrentGridFilter() "

Then preview, check some rows, select ButtonFilter then select ButtonReport will only display the currently selected grid as noted in Help on Filter next to the field ( click the purple questions mark to show help )

Now need to find a way to make one button do both actions.

Tried and Failed: Created Action Javascript In-line Javascript with {grid.Object}.filterCheckedRows(); placed above "Open A Report" script the In-line is ignored.... but if you press button a second time the filter takes and the report executes with the checked only displaying.

Any suggestions on how to make this into one button ?

Re: Checkbox Select Column - result to Report for printing

                        hello

                        thank you for that information.

i tried, yes it works. the mistake i did was the report was based on a sql query statement and the grid was based on the table. i just wanted to pick the item_id so i thought i can do with simple table to filter. it appears that the currentGridfilter() works if the grid and the report are based on the same input base. glad you pointed that to me. in the meantime i have moved on to select records and add them to temporary table to print since checkbox is pain when you have many pages to navigate and you only need few records to print.

                        i appreciate your input.

ps: additionally i am not sure you can put both functions in one button since by nature AJAX fires asynchronously. two separate buttons will be the way to go i think.
