Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Dietmar... that's an excellent page. I don't suppose there's any way you could zip up the components and page and post it here or email it. It's such a unique page and functionality that it really hard to see a solution that would fit without having a look. The connection info would be need as well.

    Re: Tree control and open grid

    ok, more details, because my case is a little bit different:
    I have to deal with a lot of text using SQLServer with full-text search.
    Therefore I built a dialog for the search words. This dialog uses action javascript to open (in a div on the same page) a grid where the select-statement for full-text search is computed in the onSQLSelectQuery-event.
    I cannot use the optional Tree Control navigator of the grid.

    Now I want to do an optional search based on the tree control selection of a tree built with the Genie in the same a5w-page.
    I can call the javascript function above, do an ajaxcallback .... but I do NOT know how to open the same grid in the div, as I cannot use action javascript here.

    I tried to adapt the code written by action javascript, but did not succeed... This is beyond my knowledge.

    Hope I explained my situation clearly enough.
    Many thanks for any help!
    Dietmar

    Do you want to filter the grid depending on the tree control selection... or open one of x number of grids depending on the tree control selection

    Are you using a grid, with the optional Tree Control Navigator?

    Re: Tree control and open grid

    I think you'd just put the grid into your a5w page, wrap it in a div, set the div's display properties to none and then when you want it change the display to block, or whatever you want. You don't really want to "open" a grid, because you're dealing with a rendered page... rather you just want to display the grid that's already there.

    Just re-read the part about the tree control... didn't realize the tree control and grid were tied together. Have to look at that one.

    I want to open the grid in a div inside the same a5w page:
    the tree control is on the left side, the div on the right side, where I want to open the grid depending on the selection in the tree control.

    Hey Dietmar,

    Do you want to open that grid in another page... or in a pop-up... or is it in a div inside the same a5w page where your tree control is?

    started a topic Tree control and open grid

    Tree control and open grid

    Hi,
    I have a tree control on a a5w-page.
    The tree control is calling a javascript function. In this function i want to open a grid component in a div.
    Can someone give me a hint how this can be done?
    Thanks a lot,
    Dietmar

    <script type="text/javascript">
    function BaumSuche(data)
    {
    var vSelect = this.value;
    alert('you selected node: ' + vSelect);
    A5.ajax.callback('RION-Suche.ajax.a5w','Data1=' + vSelect);

    ' now I want to open a grid component in a div

    }

    </script>
Working...
