Set datetime on click of checkbox

Hi, I need to set a field's value to the current datetime when a checkbox (called Finalised) is checked.

I tried using a calculated field js function if(FINALISED,=now(),"") but it throws a js script error.

Is there a way to do this using the A5 =now() function?

Try this... in the checkbox onChange event...

var now = new Date();
var y = now.getFullYear();
var m = now.getMonth()+1;
var d = now.getDate();
//currDate = d + '/' + m+1 +'/' + y;
currDate = (d<=9?'0'+d:d) + '/' + (m<=9?'0'+m:m) + '/' + y;
{grid.Object}.setValue('G','ORDERDATE',{Grid.RowNumber},currDate);

You'll see there are 2 lines for setting currDate... one commented out... that's a simple one... don't know what you need.
The active currDate formats the date with leading zeros and slashes. The currDate not in use just puts in slashes.
You didn't say if you were working with a grid or dialog... this is for a grid.

Thanks David, that got me on track and I've tweaked it to suit my datetime format needs and for use in the detail view window.

However I am seeing some odd behaviour, I need to click the check box 3 times for the event to fire. If the check box is false when the window is opened the datetime value doesn't appear in the FINALISEDDATE field until I check it, uncheck it then check it again. Any ideas? Here is my code.

Try this... again, in the onChange event of the checkbox control...

This just takes out the "if" statement... either way is great... the {} brackets drive me bonkers sometimes. The problem you're experiencing is AJAX related... and... in particular... the "Asynchronous" part of it... everything is happening at the same time and sometimes... too fast.

There's a setting in the Detail Properties section... way down at the bottom... Refresh data on row dirty... this is checked by default.

What's happening is that you check your checkbox... the row goes dirty... the code makes changes to the detail record and then the row gets it data from the database... wiping out your changes... yikes.

So, uncheck this option and you should be good to go. You don't need to make any changes to your code... it's great... so just uncheck that option and that's it. I didn't know you were dealing with a detail section, so that behaviour didn't show up in testing.
