setvalue problem on detail

I am trying to set values on several fields in a detail view using javascript and an onFocus action

I have some logic statements that trigger different events but they are not material to this question.

The following code is the heart of my issue:

{grid.Object}.setValue('D','ENGRMGRSIG','Y');
{grid.Object}.setValue('D','PRODMGRSIG','Y');
{grid.Object}.setValue('D','ACCNTMGRSIG','N');
{grid.Object}.setValue('D','QAMGRSIG','N');
{grid.Object}.setValue('D','PRESSIG','N');
{grid.Object}.setValue('D','ADDSIG','N');
{grid.Object}.setValue('D','FACILITIESSIG','N');

When the code executes. All fields on the form change for a brief moment but then only the first field, ENGRMGRSIG, holds the new value, all other fields instantly revert back to blank.

I have tried rearranging the order of the setvalue statement and have found that the first field works and all others wont regardless of which setvalue statement goes first.

What am I missing?

Have you tried putting your code in the afterAjaxCallbackComplete embed?

I just looked it up. I didn't think I needed to do a callback since this should just be a form update.

OK. you got me looking deeper and I found another thread that mentioned the setvalue does not make the form dirty and I wondered if that was the issue. Sure enough. I put the following code into the "AfterDetailViewOpens" and it worked

{grid.Object}.setValue('D','APPROVALS_NEEDED','');
{grid.Object}.setValue('D','APPROVALS_NEEDED',dummyVal);

If you have "Refresh data on row dirty" turned on, that is the expected behavior. {grid.Object}.setValue() definitely sets the grid as dirty, so as soon as the first instance runs, the grid does a callback to "refresh" all of the non-dirty fields. The other JavaScript setValue() functions run, but the refresh from row dirty ran as soon as the first field was dirty, so when it completes, it overwrites all of the values you just entered, leaving just the first value set

Just turn off "Refresh row on row dirty".
