Conditional Java script function

I have this javascript function, it works perfectly (like in the video's for the powersearch in embedded grids:

function doSearch() {


$('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.BUTTON_1').click();

}

Now i need to make it conditional: only push that button if the button is visible. I tried several variants like:

($('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.BUTTON_1.visible'))?$('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.BUTTON_1').click():;
or
({dialog.BUTTON_1}.visible)?$('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.BUTTON_1').click():;

and even:

(1==1) ? $('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.BUTTON_1').click():;

But no luck at al

Can somebody help me out pls with the correct javascrit trick?

Here's one way. It depends a bit on how you're hiding your button. Here's how I tested. I put two new buttons on my dialog.

Button 1 : Hide the Search button : onClick event : $('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.BUTTON_1').style.visibility = 'hidden';

Button 2 : Show the Search button : $('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.BUTTON_1').style.visibility = 'visible';

Use "visibility" if you still want the Search button to take up space on the page... as if the button was still there but you can't see it.
You can use "display" if you want the button to affect page layout.

In the doSearch function, add a bit of code to test for the button visibility...

if ($('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.BUTTON_1').style.visibility != 'hidden')
{
$('{dialog.ComponentName}.V.R1.BUTTON_1').click();
}

So... if the button's visibility style is not set to hidden, then click.

By default, when the page is opened, the Search button's visibility style is not set... so think about doing that, just to make sure visibility is set to something to start with.

Just in case somebody stumbles over this post and is interested in the use case:

I have 3 embedded grids, each in its own container, with identical search fields but very different selections

So i have (for the search powerpack) only 1 set of search controls and for each grid an own search button. I hide and show the embedded grid and the corresponding search control.
