Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    TabbedUI Homepage URL

O.k. I'm going crazy or something.
I am simply trying to set my tabbedUI home page to a URL that is HomeTab.a5w
The file HomeTab.a5w exists in the project root and contains only basic html text.
But the TabbedUI is not displaying it, and I am cleary missing something very basic here (tired eyes?).
    Any thoughts?

Try setting "Home page HTML source" to "Local".

      Re: TabbedUI Homepage URL

      Thanks Peter,

      Tried...but doesn't accept a filename, nor <%a5 a5w_include("HomeTab.a5w") %> - get an error

But my syntax is correct, according to v10 video no. 55.
      http://www.ajaxvideotutorials.com/V1...OnHomePage.swf

In this video, URL was selected, along with a simple a5w page (like mypage.a5w, no path info either). Also, the help bar at the bottom states that URL can be the name of a local HTML or a5w file, or an external URL.

Man, this is supposed to be the obvious stuff!

Before it didn't matter to me because I simply had static text that I added in the editor, but now I need the homepage to be an included a5w file, and I don't want to workaround it by auto-loading a second tab.

        Re: TabbedUI Homepage URL

        hello
i tested this with version 10.5 (since the video is also from version 10 library)
this works well as expected. i am not sure you published the hometab.a5w to the server
it looks like it is in the development area, may not have been published to the server.
(one way to find out bring the page in firefox, it will tell you that page is not present in the server)
quick way, since it is working here, is to publish all the files and test it once again. (also you may have to add not load cache for internet explorer).
also i kept the source being URL not local.

        hope this is helpful.
        thanks for reading

          Re: TabbedUI Homepage URL

Keep the source as url and check the permissions for the hometab.a5w which I presume resides in the same folder.

            Andy,

Check out the images below. (Yes, it was URL). My sample is with Alpha Sports. Make sure you look at your own test using Live Preview.

Ah... got it working now. Thanks to the three of ya for your help.

I think (last night) that I tried so many different configs that I may have missed the right config - I do recall seeing the "you don't have permission" page at some point, so if I wasn't so tired I should have figured that I was at the correct page but with wrong permissions.

Although it now works for me as published in my Webroot (thanks again for the help), I haven't yet found how to view/publish the .a5w page in Live Preview! And I'm not even tired, just hungry :) Oh boy....where's that button....

                  Re: TabbedUI Homepage URL

Is there any way to dynamically select the a5w page you load in the homepage tab? I have tried to do this with the following code in the other properties area of the tabbed ui but it doesn't work.

                  Code:
                  IF session.company_id = "1522" THEN
                  	tmpl.homePage.URL as C = "company_analysis_dashboard_1522.a5w"
                  ELSE IF session.company_id = "1627" THEN
                  	'tmpl.homePage.URL as C = "company_analysis_dashboard_1522.a5w"
ELSE IF session.company_client_type = "fxg" THEN
                  	'tmpl.homePage.URL as C = "dashb_fedex_owner.a5w"
                  ELSE
                  	tmpl.homePage.URL as C = "company_analysis_dashboard.a5w"
                  end if
I believe I am trying to manipulate the correct tmpl property (tmpl.homePage.URL as C), that is if it is even allowed to be changed, but even if I just change this without the logic it doesn't work. I think this a key functionality as the home pages I plan to load have decent sized components on them and it would take forever to load this if I tried to combine all the controls from the components into one component and use some frames and show hide expressions to accomplish this. I have looked into the autoLaunchOnStartup property as well and the javascript to run on startup but it seems in the javascript part I can't get it to pull in the session variable values I need and I think this same thing is occurring in the trying to manipulate the auto launch property. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

                  Thanks

                    Josh,

You're working too hard. Set a page to be the home page - e.g. Home.a5w.

On the home page put the following code:

                    Code:
                    <%a5
                    IF session.company_id = "1522" THEN
                    	RESPONSE.REDIRECT("company_analysis_dashboard_1522.a5w")
                    ELSE IF session.company_id = "1627" THEN
                    	RESPONSE.REDIRECT("company_analysis_dashboard_1627.a5w")
ELSE IF session.company_client_type = "fxg" THEN
                    	RESPONSE.REDIRECT("dashb_fedex_owner.a5w")
                    ELSE
                    	RESPONSE.REDIRECT("company_analysis_dashboard.a5w")
                    end if
                    %>
