Skip Deleted Rows from Repeating Section during Iteration

I'm repeating this as my attempts to find a work around are not ideal. If you iterate through a repeating section to do something, the deleted rows are still there with data in them. How do I exclude those rows from being counted when I iterate throught the repeating section?

I've tried all afternoon to figure this out but need some help. I'm iterating through a repeating section to do some stuff and that is working fine. However, I need to skip any edited rows that were deleted. I've tried to figure out the e.repeatingSectionInfo[].deletedRows array by telling it not to perform on those, but to no avail. The iteration works except that I cannot figure out how to exclude any deleted rows.

Here is what I'm basically doing:

Anyone done this? I just do not know how to compare or exlude the deleted rows from the non deleted rows.

I have dealt with something similar by creating my own Delete image and then on its OnClick event, I do an ajax callback to a function that sets the value in my Amount field to zero. In a later Xbasic function that loops through the repeating records to submit them, I ignore any rows that have a zero in the Amount field. I'm 95% sure the following Xbasic could also be written in javascript and that is probably what I should do, but I'm so much more comfortable with Xbasic. Here's my Xbasic function if that helps:

'get the number of repeating rows on acreen
dim n as n = e.dataSubmitted.PAYOR_ID.size()

if n = 1 then 'do not let them delete the row.
	'NOTE:  This will only work if trying to delete the first row when no other rows have been deleted.
	'Alpha holds on to deleted rows so deletions of rows after this will always detect more than one row.
	'But at least this will cut down some on having a user delete s row meaning no rows are displayed.
	DeleteRow = "alert('Since there is only one row it cannot be deleted.  Make changes on this row as needed.');"

Hey Carol-
Thanks for the input. I'm iterating through the line items when they are submitted so if the user has deleted a line using the provided delete button, it is still there but of course the user believes it's gone. What I was trying to do was to exclude any deleted lines during iteration. I still don't know how to do that. I can exclude line based on a criteria such as a blank field but not if it's filled in then deleted. My current solution is to provide my own delete button so when the user presses it I can set values such that the line will be ignored during iteration and then deletes the line.

Sounds like concept of your current solution is same as mine. It would be good to know how Alpha marks those lines as deleted so that we could refer to that during our iterations. I too wrestled with trying to figure that out and could not.

It seems that you would want it to work like it does with a grid. When you delete a record from the grid the record is permanently deleted from the table and the grid is refreshed with the current data.

Unless there is a reason that you do not want the records to be permanently deleted I would remove the record from the table then refresh the repeating section with the current data.

Frank, in my case I am submitting new records with the dialog and do my own insert via Xbasic. The dialog is not bound to tables. When you delete a record in a repeating section of dialog it is not really deleted from dialog, just hidden. Therefore, if you loop through repeating records to post them, those deleted ones get included in the loop. I think this is also what Chris is trying to avoid.

I do not use dialogs often as I have not found a reason to use that instead of a grid for data entry. There is probably something in the e object like e.isDeleted?

Hi Carol,

Can you please tell me what PAYOR_ID is referring to in your xbasic code? Is this from a linked table primary key?
I am trying to adapt this to work in my component.

Stephen, you can use the name of any field on your row to count the number of rows in the repeating section. PAYOR_ID is just one of my field names. It is not a primary key.

Try using this function

{dialog.object}._repeatingSectionLogicalToPhysicalRow(RepeatingSectionName,logicalRow);

If you read the documentation it gives you the row count with deletes and without.

It is useful for this type of problem
