Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    3369_4093 Patch Problem

I downloaded patch 3369_4093 and now my online database is doing strang things. I wanted to do a bug report but since you can only see the problem when you are working remotely from a Mac computer, I didn't know if there was anything they could actually look at to see what is happening. I have grids set up for my employees to work from that include a lot of fields put into the grid. It has always looked like a grid with lines and boxes placed as I have set them up. Now when you go into the grid, sometimes all the lines and boxes are gone. You can still see the data in the boxes but it looks like the data is just floating in thin air. Changes made are being recorded correctly, but it looks very confusing to my employees.

I appreicate any help you can give. The patch was downloaded and I did reupload my grids so that it would be applied.

    Thank you,
    Flo Martin

    Hi Flo,

Did you shut down the server and restart it?

        Re: 3369_4093 Patch Problem

I have also notice strange things happening with the 3369_4093 patch.

When clicking on the calendar to select a date, the background is missing and I get an overlay of numbers on the background screen only. Very very hard to read.

Also, the theme randomly disappears. (opaque goes 100% transparant on popup windows. 5 minutes later everything is fine (edit windows in detail view)

These problems showed up since the patches last week. Really messing up my applications. Both IE9 and FireFox 19 are having these problems.

            Hi Paul,

Make any change to one of your grids, save it and re-publish and see if that fix the problem.

Did that. Even republished all the grids. etc.... Still same problem.
Note, the software worked great for months until the changes from this past week were installed.

                Re: 3369_4093 Patch Problem

Well, then submit a bug report to Alpha and be able to send them detail information on the issue.

Yes, that is what mine is doing too. But I'm not sure how to submit a bug report. They really really need to fix this.

I have sent them a bug report with 3 screen shots attached. I know they don't like pictures but I'm not sure how else to show them what it is doing online. I hope they fix this quickly.

                      Thank you,
