Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: update build 3381_4096

    Here's another possiblity for small problems and 4096.
    I have a button calling a javascript to open a grid component consisting of a pop-up window. The window would work fine with IE9 and IE9 in IE compatibility mode, but NOT with an IE8 browser on XP.

    Select the "compatibility view" in IE8 on XP and everything works as it should.

    My Thanks to Selwyn for helping me with this little problem.

      Re: update build 3381_4096

      It's all working fine now. I updated to today's patch which is labeled Build 3393-4098 26-Mar-2103 9:28 AM, but in reality is 3396-4099 - or at least that's what it was an hour or two ago.
      Peter, are you running this in production and if so, are things still running smoothly as far as you can tell?

        I'm not Peter but I've been running this build in production since it came out and I'm personally not having any issues.

          Thanks but sorry--I didn't ask clearly--are you running 3381_4096 or 3393-4098/4099?

            I think there were a bunch of typos floating around the forum and in alpha's own links around the release of this build. haha.

              Re: update build 3381_4096

              Just a warning, i guess not many are using override settings in grids rowexpanders.

              Setting / adding base-filters at that place is not working anymore:

              baseFilterSetMode = "Replace / Add"
              base_filter = "Your filter"
              We have ample work arounds for this issue so it isn't a big deal for us. But no need to say that is can be a breach in security if you rely on it by filtering out data that some users should and other shouldn't see!

              The technique of override of basefilter is still valid at other places.

                As in this other thread: http://msgboard.alphasoftware.com/al...ight=__unsaved I and some others are experiencing problems with linked grids.
                I'm pretty sure I didn't upgrade since a while my version of A5 (v11 build 3044 addins 4041) but since yesterday my linked grid worked and today it's not..
