Hello.
First of all should there by another thread that deals with this matter I should by directed there.
All I want is a way to display a grid with only one visible field as a filed in another grid using Insert-> LinkedGrid.
This is the pic:
Grid Linked with a Grid.png
If I am being stupid with my approach can you tell me how to do some tie-ups between some STAGES -> ACTIVITIES -> TASKS ?
It all goes like this.
A STAGE has a couple of ACTIVITIES and each activity has a couple of TASKS.
X = STAGES: X.X. = ACTIVITIES: X.X.X.= TASKS:
1. FIXING A CAR
1.1. EVALUATING DAMAGES
1.1.1. STEERING SYSTEM
1.1.2. BRAKING SYSTEM
1.1.3. INTERIOR
1.1.4. ....
1.2. BUYING SPARE PARTS
1.2.1. PICKING THE STORE
1.2.2. SET UP THE BUDGET
1.3. REPLACING PARTS
1.3.1. CHANGING THE TIRES
1.3.2. CALIBRATING THE WHEELS
Very stupid example but hope it makes sense.
So what's the bets approach ?
I made 3 dbf's for defining all the STAGES, all the ACTIVITIES and all the TASKS and another 3 for making the connections between the defined ones.
In the last 3 dbf's I put only the ID's of the stages, acts and tasks and the names I would like to come from the first dbf's where they are defined.
Is the linked Grids a valid approach or is there another way and if not how could I get rid of that space under the field name ?
Thanks.
