Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Infinite loop for check box---> onChange--->text mode---->setValue(-,-,-,-)

Hi All,

I have one field in grid with control type as check box . choices are Apple, Banana , Mango and None(four check boxes).

I wrote code at "text mode" for onChange event.

var fnames={grid.Object}.getValue('G','FRUITNAMES[]',1);

if(fnames=="None"){
{grid.Object}.setValue'G','FRUITNAMES[]',1,['None']);
window.alert("FName is : "+fnames);
}

This code is running infinite times. I want to assign None when user checked None and unchecked the remaining all check boxes if checked.

Re: Infinite loop for check box---> onChange--->text mode---->setValue(-,-,-,-)

I have found that using the OnClick event for the check box works much better than using the OnChange event. In example below, I was changing a date field based on whether the box was checked or unchecked. This required that I get the true (checked) or false (unchecked) value of the check box first. My check box field name was DONE. Here is the javascript I used for that. Maybe it will help:

Code:
var DONE = {grid.Object}.getValue('G','DONE',{grid.rowNumber});
var doneValue = $u.s.toBool(DONE);
var myDate = new Date();
var curDate=myDate.getMonth()+1+'/'+myDate.getDate()+'/'+myDate.getFullYear();
if(doneValue == true) {
{grid.Object}.setValue('G','DONE_DATE',{grid.rowNumber},curDate);
} else {
{grid.Object}.setValue('G','DONE_DATE',{grid.rowNumber},'');
}

Re: Infinite loop for check box---> onChange--->text mode---->setValue(-,-,-,-)

Thanks, it is working properly.

And one more issue.
split is not working in that place. why?

splitError.png

var fnames={grid.Object}.getValue('G','FRUITNAMES[]',1);
var fnamesArray=fnames.split(',');//I am getting error at this place.
if(fnames=="None"){
{grid.Object}.setValue'G','FRUITNAMES[]',1,['None']);
window.alert("FName is : "+fnames);
}
else {
for(i=0;i<fnamesArray.length;i++)
window.alert(""+fnamesArray[i]);
}

From the above code ,How can I split the 'fnames' value with comma(,)? And I want to store these values in an array and I want to get that values. Any help . Thanks in advance...

Re: Infinite loop for check box---> onChange--->text mode---->setValue(-,-,-,-)

Issue 1:

{grid.object}.setValue('G','FRUITNAMES[]',1,['None'],false);

You need to pass false as the final parameter. This tells setValue "Hey. Don't trigger any events." The onChange event is triggered when you call setValue --- unless you pass in false.

Issue 2:

fnames is probably not a string. What is the typeof fnames? eg:

Code:
alert(typeof (fnames));

I did some investigation. getvalue is returning an Object in this form:

['Apple','Banana','Mango','None']

Which is an array. Since it's already an array, you don't need to split it. More Array: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/...bjects%2FArray

One more help I need!!!!

How can I do different colors for alternate check boxes names?

By using the following statement, I can checked the 'None' value check box. How can I unchecked the 'None' check box when I am checked the atleast one check box in the remain check boxes?
Ex: Apple, Banana, Mango, None.

{grid.object}.setValue('G','FRUITNAMES[]',1,['None'],false);

Unchecking None is probably going to be tricky. You're going to have to track the previous checked state so you can tell if the user clicked 'None' or some other value when you're event is triggered. Otherwise, you'll always end up back in the 'None' selected state - unless, of course, the user deliberately unchecks None before selecting another option.

As for alternating colors for check boxes, that's going to be more involved.

Here's one solution. To implement this in Alpha, you'll need to write custom HTML & CSS for your checkbox control: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7...box-inside-div

You could probably intercept the generated HTML in the server-side events for the row & insert/modify the displayed HTML.
