Descending Sort order when clicking column label

Is it possible to change the default sort order when I click on a field label?

I have a grid with several fields. It starts with a default sort, which is fine, but many times I want to resort the grid by clicking on a column label.

There are several fields that make more sense to sort in DESC order than in Ascending order. At the moment, I have to click the label once, then click it a second time to sort in descending order. Is it possible to change this functionality for certain fields within a grid so that it sorts desc on the first click, then asc if I click it again?

Note, I already tried putting desc in the sort column. It actually sort of works, but not really.

If you do that, the first click WILL sort in desc order. But the arrow is pointing wrong because Alpha thinks it's ascending. Then, if you click it again, it doesn't sort properly because the sort field is all messed up.

Suggestions?

1> go to the field in the field definition and on the properties of that field go to bottom half, look for column properties and in that heading look for sort field, it will have a listing, add desc ( i am using mysql in that i will change name to name desc). this will make the click on the label to come as descending sort however the arrow will point upwards. to correct that

2> you need to go to grid properties the one below the field list in the grid definition part. look for column titles and sorting/scrolling options. the third one is sorting style, click that arrow and select without direction symbol the second choice.
that should do, i hope, what you want to accomplish.

I hadn't used that sort option in the grid properties. I ended up with a different approach, but that certainly helped point me in the right direction.

I decided on setting it to "ICON". That puts an icon by the label that shows an arrow for up or down. It uses up a little bit of precious screen real-estate, but in this case I think it is worth it.

The problem with turning off the direction signal is that you just can't see what is being sorted. Also, adding the desc to the column sort works great until you click it twice.
