Freeform edit region for display the value i am clicking on

this is the code i put on the freeform edit region area, but does not work. who can tell me how to make it works? when i click a record, then the above region area should display that record's groupName. Thank you very much!!

I'm not totally sure I understand what you're trying to do, but you're combining Javascript (the first two lines) with XBasic (the last line) in this, so it's definitely not going to work. You're probably going to have to put an HTML element in the freeform region, then change its .value using Javascript in the Grid Properties > Javascript - Row Events onClick event. Yes. That's going to have to be an HTML element that you change its value via javascript.

Try this:

In the freeform region,

<textarea id="groupHead"></textarea>

In the row onClick,

var groupName = {grid.object}.getValue("G","groupName",rowNum);
var groupHead = document.getElementById('groupHead');
groupHead.value = groupName;
