Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

How can I escape out of a Dialog with Radio Buttons and Cancel won't work?

    How can I escape out of a Dialog with Radio Buttons and Cancel won't work?

    I have a simple Dialog with 6 radio buttons which determine what action to take. I have no problem if the user chooses one of the Radio Buttons and clicks Submit button.

    The problem arises when the user clicks on a Radio button and then changes their mind and wants to completely back out of the procedure. My Cancel button brings up the "Are you sure you want to abandon all changes" message, and of course I say YES. The pop-up window with the dialog will not close down. This same Cancel button WILL CLOSE the pop-up if I don't make ANY selections upon opening the pop-up.

    What I believe is the dialog is made dirty and the undo can not take it back to an "UNDIRTY" state. The confirmation for Undo keeps coming up in an infinite loop. I am then forced to close my entire Alpha App in the browser in order to escape.

    I can't continue to expect my users to understand this unfortunate sequence of events. Does anyone know how I can "kill" this pop-up under the above explained scenario?

    In the action javascript wizard that calls the dialog in the first place, there is a checkbox setting that will turn off the dirty warning.

      Andy,

      I have seen this setting to which you refer but it may not be appropriate in my case. I didn't know this when I submitted my original post but my current problem arises from the below actual code example:

      var myvar = {grid.Object}.getSessionVariable('OKAY2ADDNEWCLIENT');

      if (myvar == 'YES')
      {
      {grid.componentName}_X_ACTIONBUTTON_ADDNEWCLIENT_1(this);
      {grid.Object}.closeParentContainer();
      } else

      {
      {grid.Object}.closeParentContainer();
      }

      Andy,

      My action button that calls this uncontrolled pop-up uses the above code to actually do it. Now it's been so long since I wrote this code I can't figure out if there is a way I can get at it and tweak it for my benefit. Where might this source code reside and will it generally have the "switch" I need to turn off this forced "dirty" msg and loop?

        That code would typically reside within the javascript (onclick) event of a Action Button (Grid Properties->Action Button edit).
        I think that your problem is the one I identified above. Since it appears that you have converted from Action Javascript over to Text Mode for that button, you can no longer 'edit' the Action Script in the wizard.
        Instead, look for the "Declarations - Global" tab at the bottom of the button javascript window. You will need to manually remove the onBeforeHide function definition.
        You should remove this part (with your own names in there of course):
        Code:
        	onBeforeHide: function() {
        var isDirty = window['{GRID.COMPONENTNAME}_REMINDER_D_TVSJ_DlgObj']._isDirty;
        if(isDirty) {
        	window['{GRID.COMPONENTNAME}_REMINDER_D_TVSJ_DlgObj']._confirmAction();
        	return false;
        } else return true;
        },
        Make sure to remove that last brace and comma as well.
