I have checked what I did and can see the following, I have a grid which displays detail of what I am outputting to PDF, in my case Invoices. This button then opens an a5w page and passes an argument to that page (in my case the invoice number). Then on the page itself I have a load of code, which saves the document as a PDF and then opens it in a new window...

The bit code that opens the window is

if file.exists(filename)
Session.SaveDataAsFile("tempreport.pdf",file.to_blob(filename))
Response.Redirect( Session.FormatFileDataURL("tempreport.pdf") )
end if

cn.close(connection)

Larry, this is how I do it. Maybe it can help.

Create your report as usual making sure that you assign an argument to collect the identifier.
In my case I use clientID (n) as my argument and I call the report with my applicantID.

Then, in a dialog's Action Javascript area, open a report as usual.

Here's the trick...

After you save it, reopen and choose the TEXT radio button. Ignore the warning.

What you will see is a javascript statement.

COPY and paste into a javascript function or add it to your web page as such:

		{grid.componentName}_O_5056AE867A804721BC13750C6FB00FC0({grid.rownumber},'{grid.rowId}',this);
	}

To call it from XBasic, simply call another XBasic function as such:

blah...
runReport(e)
more blah...

function runReport(e as p)
'do nothing
runReport = "show_report();"
end function
