Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

AfterUpdateRecords Having trouble figuring out what rows were submited

I have a Incoming order grid that the user enters the quantity received for each part in the grid. It has just the one submit button at the bottom.

I can't seem to figure out how to determine which rows were dirty (if for some reason not all quantites are entered). I need to process just the records that change. I can view the PageVariables with the debug turned on and see the keys for each dirty record. I would like to store the record ID into an array for each dirty record and then I can process each record.

Im not seeing any examples of this being done in the AfterUpdateRecords.

    Thanks

    Incoming order grid
is this similar to a receiving document?
instead of having each line entered, the document is prefilled with items and data entry person only enters the quantity and possibly other pertinent info? if this is correct, then
would you consider using a dialog? that will be lot easier on you.

I'm quite sure how I would do this with a dialog. I'm sure a repeating section would be involved. Let me explain in a little more detail.

I have an Orders Grid view set to Distinct, ordered by a field with a time stamp. This will display one record with some info for each group of parts. When the user clicks on the row it opens a grid listing all the parts with the same time stamp. This grid has two fields that need to be edited (with a chance that they may not be because I can't seem to enforce changes to every record ) I did not want the user to save each line one at a time, so I put in just the submit at the bottom of the grid. Each record that is edited then get processed in an xbasic routine.

If you can expain how to pull the records into a dialog and be able to do this it would be great.

Martin, try adding a Row Expander [grid properties] with your second grid as it's row expander linked Content
Make sure grid 2 is updatable.

        Hope that helped

with that and not knowing all the details Michael's suggestion should work. also you can save the child grid, if you like, automatically if you put {grid.part}.submit() onChange event of those fields in the child grid (linked content) the grid will be automatically saved if they make any changes..

(more I think about this I get the picture the scenario is, there is a po generated sometime ago and when the items received the receiving document pulls that po and the customer will adjust the quantity and price and save instead of creating a new receiving document. if that is the case Michael's suggestion is what is best and you can opt to save automatically or just one submit button.
also you can add a field "received" and set that to yes in the main grid and when you display filter only ones that are not received.)
