Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Field with Lookup has Transparent Background when lookup is performed. Very strange!

I have defined a textbox field with the Lookup property turned on. I populated the lookup with STATIC values. The first time I go into the module, the Lookup Pop-Up looks and works as you might expect. However, as soon as I select an item from the list and SAVE, the lookup pop-up has a transparent background upon subsequent calls.

This transparent background makes it impossible to really read the choices that are there because the pop-up is over top of the underlying form which has it's own "busy" makeup. There also is NO hi-lite bar inside of the pop-up. I can however randomly click in the pop-up and it does indeed make a selection and place it in the parent field.

The only way to make the lookup work as intended is to totally re-load the module from scratch. Note, if I pop-up the static choices and don't save any selections, I can continue to pop it up over and over and it's okay. Again, as soon as I SUBMIT, the transparency takes over.

There does not seem to be a separate CSS that can be applied to the POP-UP, at least I can't find one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Transparent forms would be cool, but I doubt that is what you had intended.
Sounds like the form is not repainting as it should.
Just a hunch, but try making the form modal so it can be moved to force a repaint.

My form is not the problem. Only the POP-UP list of options from the static data choices. I can not alter the mode of the form, too complicated to explain here. Something seems to go awry ONLY when SUBMIT is made. It's like the POP-UP List pulls it's attributes from a different CSS instance (which I'm unaware of) after a Submit is made. Entering the module "brand new" works like a charm. Definitely a bug of some sort.

I do not know why there is a problem from the static list pop up, but definitely looks like css incompatibility between the grid and the list. places to look:
look at the main css for the grid and change that to project style if it is not, if it is then change to something like mobile blue for testing purpose.
right underneath there is a property style overrides make sure it is not clicked.
if all fails then for testing change the lookup from auto suggest to edit combo or the reverse and see if that helps.
in all my past experience setting the grid to a current system css, not legacy css, has corrected this kind of behavior.
        thanks for reading

I have tried all of the preceding suggestions with no success. To save time and finally move forward I have been forced to create a separate field that contains the static pop-up list of choices. Upon selecting in THAT field, I then use that selection to update the value of the real original field. I make this new field a non-updateable field so that it always displays the sorted list the same way with each new or viewable record. Not the cleanest solution but it works.
