Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Help With formatting Simple Video Gallery

    I built a simple little video slider that I am inserting on a website in an Iframe. I have attached both the landscape (which will be the full browser view),the portrait view and the layout screen showing the settings for the top container. Before you ask, I am doing this rather than use an off the shelf gallery because it is going into a website where I am not permitted to add javascript folders to the server as required by all gallery solutions that meet my display needs(e.g. words instead of thumbnails).

    There are two issues remaining that I would l like to resolve.

    1. In portrait view, the list does not center under the player despite the fact that the top container is alignment=center. The container for the list has no width set and it's alignment is also center . The same results if there is no separate container around the list.

    2. The default video is set inside the player component which matches the first entry in the list. I would like the list to show that the first entry has been selected (as it is when clicked) so it matches the video in the player. I can not find a navigate to list item javascript method. What am I missing?

    Lastly, though it is not an issue for what I am publishing now, I would like the player and the list themselves to be responsive so they would shrink in size rather than stack when in portrait mode. Is that possible?

    Hi Eric,
    For #1 you might try wrapping the A5 object in a div like so:
    Code:
    <body>
       <div align="center">
          <!-- Begin A5 Object -->
          <a5% {dialog.Object}.body tag %>
          <!-- End A5 Object -->
    </div>
    else use a spacer with width measured to manually center/position the list.

      Michael,

      Thanks for the help. Coding on the page didn't affect the placement of the list inside of the container. I did solve that problem though with a feature I should have found before I posted - the "responsive layout settings" in the UX properties. I set the list's container to expand to the width of the player above it when in portrait mode and it worked perfectly.

      Now, should I have found the answer to selecting a list row with java on render of the list?

      Better, since you can run java in the responsive settings, can you change the size of the player component with java? Then I could get what I would really like which is a gallery that shrinks and does not change layout.

        Another thought, using freeform, you could place each element into a table and configure the cell's alignment?

        For #2, you could always lock your app into landscape mode.
