How do I Display the same field twice?

I upload images and save the directory pointer to the database. I would like to display a grid which shows both the pointer AND the image that the directory pointer points to.
If I could put the same variable on a grid twice, I could display one as text and the other as an image, but.....

Would someone please suggest a good way to get both the directory pointer as well as the image it points to on a grid together??
Maybe a 2nd variable equated to the other?

If you are fortunate enough to be using SQL statements to retrieve a data set, you may be able to define a SQL statement that will create the extra field needed.
Example:

select name, city, state, image_main, image_main as 'imagetext' from customer ........... etc.

Have not tried this with Alpha, but if logic holds, A5 should think of the above as two separate fields that can be defined with different properties inside A5 interface.

Thanks but that doesn't work for me. This is Version 11 using Alpha's .dbf database files.

If you are not yet into production and are still developing, I would suggest adding a separate field called "imagetext" to your dbf. This field will contain the exact same text as your imagemain field. You can define imagetext as a hidden field as well as being a calculated field ( inside A5). Drawing it's content solely from data entered into the imagemain field.

Later when you want to display the image and the text separately, you have two fields in which to do that easily.

The easiest way to show a field twice when using a DBF table is to create a calculated field.
In the grid, left panel, click on Grid/Query(DBF), then click on Calculated Fields button and add a field. In the example I have a table called complex which has a field called complex. So I created a calculated field called name_dupe. When that is saved, then it appears on the list of available fields to be used in a grid. It is read only, but it does display.

Thanks Mike.... I kinda figured that was gonna be it.... and it does work.. :) I had originally created 2 fields in the db, but couldn't find an easy way to equate the two. A separate calculated field seems the best route.
