Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Alpha and Bootstrap

I was wondering if I am setting this up right. I have an a5w page that pulls a TabbedUI component and displays it on that page. In the header of that a5w page I include both the CSS and JavaScript and jQuery for bootstrap, also I have some custom JavaScript for the tabs to actually work. In the TabbedUI I have set another a5w page to display a welcome page as the start screen and the CSS works and displays properly but the clicking of the tabs in the welcome page doesn't work. Am I missing something? Also, my custom JavaScript displays in pink text on the html editor of the a5w page, is that normal?

Here is a working preview of the tabs that would like to have run on the welcome page. https://jsfiddle.net/esquqh0s/
Attached is the home page with the bootstrap, jQuery, custom JavaScript and TabbedUI is. And the welcome.a5w page with the bootstrap tabs.
    welcome.a5w
    home.a5w

Could some one assist me on this, I'm probably missing something and can't see it.

    Pink is normal.

Are you trying to runs those tabs in addition to the tabbed_ui tabs or ?

getting into AA & bootstrap and was advised in another post only to have the script call directive in the head. I see you doing this, but is the order correct? Think jQuery should come first.

Okay, thank you. Wasn't sure if the pink meant something bad or not.

Yes, I am running those tabs within the tabbed_ui tabs.

I think so, I will change that around and then try it again and hopefully it works!

Okay, I changes the jQuery link to before the call for bootstrap and then that worked. I don't know why I totally missed that, I've worked with bootstrap and jQuery in a non-alpha environment and it I have it always to call jQuery first. Why I changed it this time, I don't know... Thank you for your help :)

            James et all,
Have you implemented security as part of bootstrap? If so please give pointers on how this is done.

How do you mean? Security as a part of bootstrap?

Hi, meant using AA security (login component) with pages of bootstrap. The idea of a login/register page that will say be called from a link in the Nav bar and on login, have a display of logged in user and a logout.

                  Re: Alpha and Bootstrap

Um.... I don't have AA so I can't assist you completely. I'm sure you have to go into the styling of how alpha created the component and then change and add the class styling to match bootstrap.

If you want a page to be bootstrap, create an alpha or html page and then style it to be of bootstrap styling. Then, add in your components. If you want to have a nav bar in boot strap, create a bootstrap nav bar and then just link it to your pages. If you want to render in an alpha nav bar, then you are going to have to style the nav bar in alpha to have the styling of bootstrap support. Same goes for the login component.

I may not know completely how alpha works but I have dived in a little bit into bootstrap + alpha and it is a little more complex but it can be done over time. If you have any other question about bootstrap and alpha I shall be able to help you
