Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Changing size of icons in a grid

I have a simple grid on a page which I wish to view on a smart phone. I have managed to increase the font size of the fields to 30pt, but cannot see how to increase the size of the Grid Row Save icon. I have looked in the style sheet editor, and can find the icon, but cannot increase it's size.

I have attached the page accordingly.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Larry,
Been a while since I worried over those icons short of hiding them, but I'll take a guess here.
Since those are system icons (16x16), they would be easy to find in your webroot and replace with 32x32.

    C:\A5Webroot\CSS\GrBlue\GridRowSave.png for example.

Photoshop can double the size for you or you can search for them online.

    Anyone else have ideas?

Re: Changing size of icons in a grid

      Hi Michael,
Thanks for your reply, which is a good idea - a simple one that even I can understand. I had created a new CSS and called it MobBlue. I located the GridRowSave.png in that folder and increased it's size by 300%. I then published all files including the CSS, but sadly the save icon didn't change. Looking at the jpg above, am I right in thinking the save icon is GridRowSave? Or am I enlarging the wrong file?

Re: Changing size of icons in a grid

you could try a different approach.
first search the internet, select an image you like or using paint draw an image you want to place it in the spot. or use any program like photoshop to enlarge the image ( first copy image to the program then edit). when all done save the image in your picture folder then import it to alpha web project. you will need tow images, one for active one for disabled. ( click on image on the left side, then import then select the newly created image, there you can adjust the size say 30px X 30px should be enough or 50px X 50px, plenty.
now go to the grid properties and look for customization, then the customize icons.
then select the save record and save record disabled icons. this is what you want to play with. click the ellipsis then select the first choice then select project folder and then select the image for both styles.
        save then preview.
et voila! you will have your icon in place of alpha icon. this will not require you to disassemble alpha css files. (warning i lost all my hair when i tried to play with alpha css files.)

        edit:
take a look at this screencast:

First, thanks so much for going to so much trouble with my query!
Second, that's exactly what I wanted.
Third, I feel so stupid for not finding 'Customise Icons'! I thought I'd searched the properties box...
Oh, and I lost most of my hair many years ago!
          Thanks again.
