Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    dreamweaver help

    Dreamweaver cs3

I am trying to merge alpha v9 with dreamweaver cs3.
How do you get the .a5w files published to html so I can open them in dreamweaver? When we go to publish the a5w files they dont create an html file.
Are there examples of sites that have merged dreamweaver with alpha

My goal is to create an alpha 5 page then bring to dreamweaver to create the look.

    Thanks for any help

    Re: dreamweaver help

Wouldn't it make more sense to create a template page in Dreamweaver, then save it as .a5w? You can't use Xbasic code or Alpha5 components in htm pages so if you just want html pages why do you need Alpha5 at all?

      Re: dreamweaver help

Why not extend CS3 to recognize the .a5w pages. I had the steps to do this for MX, but can't find them on first look. If you search this board and can't find anything I'll try to dig some more.

CS3 still won't edit components, but you will be able to style a5w pages as desired and bounce between Alpha Five and CS3.

        Re: dreamweaver help

David Brown described some time ago how to put Dreamweaver and A5 together. Use the search for some help, and the Dreamweaver help itself is additional guidance.

I created the company website using dreamweaver so I want to keep the design consistent since I created a template. The reason I was try to make it an html is so that deamweaver would open it. I do need the components from alpha to save time from building them.

Re: dreamweaver help (more help needed

I made Dreamweaver to recognize the .a5w pages as informed from the post by David Brown
The link is to the adobe site that explain it
            http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/view...6410&sliceId=2
            Now I have more questions
1 I also read if you just change the extension from a5w to html it opens fine with the all the coed, why is that? I did and it worked.

2 if I open the file in Dreamweaver weather it is done with changing the extension or not it opens up with just asp on the side and when you export it for the web you see nothing but coed. Its not previewing as if you previewed it throw alpha.
I want to have the capabilities to change the look of the components to represent are site since the look that come with alpha is played out.
