Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    problem renewing my SSL cert

    I have a problem, and don't know how to fix it. People are calling me saying that they won't submit online until I fix my SSL cert.

    I have an SSL page at https://aasecure.com/Purchase_Loan_Inquiry.a5w

    I just renewed my SSL cert at Godaddy.com and don't know what is causing the problem.

    You will get the below error.

    This is the error: "This Ca Root Certificate Is Not Trusted. To enable Trust, Install This Certificate In The Trusted Root Certification Authorities Store"

    Does anyone have a step by step process to reinstall the new cert.

    Thanks in advance.

      You seem to be using a self-sgned certificate, not one issued by GoDaddy. Make sure your server configuration is pointing to the correct certificate file.

          Reg works same as other websites. You have to receive and confirm reg email. Look for an email from [email protected] and click the confirmation link. Or set that in your whitelist and re-register.

              SOLUTION: problem renewing my SSL cert

              Ok, I figured out what my mistake was for this. Follow the below to set up Godaddy SSL or reissue, [I needed a reissue, actually rekey since my reissue I made a mistake on it]

              instructions to renew SSL for mydomain.com

              open your alpha ssl and select configure server
              select SSL tab

              select generate certificate signing request

              complete form:
              country = US
              state = new york
              locality = yourcity
              organization = your biz name or your name
              organization unit = dba optional
              comment = blank

              private key passphrase = blank
              repeat passphrase = blank
              private key encryption level = 1024

              create certificate signing request

              the below is generated
              2 files are created
              j:\mydomain.csr
              j:\mydomain.key
              move these files to j:\alpha\ssl folder [or keep them there]

              the below text is generated in alpha

              -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----

              -----END CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----

              Login to godaddy.com,
              go to SSL Certificates
              go to My SSL
              manage mydomain.com
              select reissue ssl [or rekey if you made a mistake like RM did on 4/5/09]
              paste the above cert request into the CSR data window.
              select webserver type Apache

              godaddy generates a zip download
              save zip to j:\alpha5\SSL or your root j:\ folder where the other .csr and .key files are
              if this is a reissue or rekey
              rename the following old files to
              domain.com.csr add todays date to end ie domain.com.csr04-05-09
              gd_bundle.crt add 04-05-09 [to remember it is old] ie: gd_bundle.crt04-05-09
              [you can delete these files after you successfully completed the reissue and verified it works]

              open zip, drag the following 2 files to same folder
              domain.com.crt
              gd_bundle.crt this is the intermediate file

              go to alpha ssl server
              select config server
              select ssl tab

              find your crt and key and intermediate crt files, select them for the following

              SSL Certificate file = J:\alpha5\SSL\domain.com.crt
              Private Key File = J:\alpha5\SSL\domaincom.key
              Private Key Password = blank
              Certificate Chain File = J:\alpha5\SSL\gd_bundle.crt

              save
              stop server
              restart server

              this should do it...
              Test your ssl page on several computers to make sure you don't get any errors.

              ----- to download a Godaddy ssl site seal snippet
              You can also go to my ssls in godaddy and get their secure snipet to let anyone verify your site ssl certificate,
              login to godaddy.com
              go to ssl certs
              select my ssl
              select manage certificate
              select your ssl domain
              select "site seal"
              choose small or medium logo
              generate,
              copy and paste the snippet on your ssl page.

              Godaddy site seal snippet:
