Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: security / userID management for e-comm app

Fortunately this is just a test site.
I am using the 'lite' product from VPSLAND.COM
It is only $18 per month.

I plan to use a different machine at the office.

Do you guys think it's time to ask someone at Alpha?

This is my live test server

      Login as [email protected]
      password = password

Once you login, you will have access to a menu option called "admin index" located under the "your account" menu option.

When you review lenny's detail versus the last two records entered "jack and john" note how they are different.

It seems that alpha9's security is not updating sportswebV8's "mystery" internal user data table.
It would seem that the security framework is not active on your server. If you enter a URL for a non-existent page with the framework on, you should get a 403 security error as the security is checked before the existence of the page is even checked. Instead you get a page not found which indicates the security framework is off.

Open the server configuration and check the option "Enable Security Framework" and restart the server. It is not activated by default. If the security framework is not active, most security functions are turned off, including all of the functions to save or edit a user in the system.

While it appears you are logging on from the login page, nothing is actually happening. You can actually open the administrative index without logging on, which is incorrect.

        Jerry...
I just enabled the security framework at http://65.75.241.248:8080/alphasportsweb/index.a5w.

I hope this helps, but !!

I checked the server and my local desktop I am working on at work and I had it enabled already. So, the problem described in this thread should still be an issue even with the framework enabled.

Thanks for checking in with me on this thread!!

          Holy Cow!
          I figured it out!

I imported my own ID's and Passwords and it's working.

          How...don't know! lol

I changed a bunch of stuff in the web security setting, modified the internal user table, and now I am using a user ID versus an email address to log-in which I like better.

          Thanks for everyone's support!!!!!!!!

            Not so fast Batman!
Well, almost perfect. There is code in the background looking for the ulink which I did NOT remove or touch, but the script/xbasic code makes the server do this when looking up user detail.

            500 Internal Server Error
            "Script Error
            Error:Script: /AlphaSportsWebv8/default/aswuserone.a5w line:29
            if pUser.ulink <> ""
            Property not found
            pUser.ulink subelement not found."

            Any suggestions?

              John,

              if pUser.ulink <> ""
if pUser.ulink = emp_id ' opening record for current logged in user
              FlagUser = .T.
              end if

Have an issue with probably the emp_id.

                Figured it out...thanks!
I turned off the uid in the security setup.
Turned back on and it works now.
