Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

V10 Training - who is going?

So, Alpha is having a training on V10 starting August 19th in Boston (see here).

    I'm going, curious who else!

There hasn't been an opportunity to get together for a while, so as important as the training is, I look forward to seeing some of my old friends, and meeting a few new ones. I know I could attend a few online seminars in the months after, but nothing works better than being there.

    Steve, I'd love to go,
Unfortunately the cost of the flights plus, it would probably be an 8 day round trip from here. Which all makes it prohibitive. Darn, and double darn.

I hope to be there. I have to juggle some stuff, but plan on making it.

I've registered but I'm waiting for the promised follow-up regarding payment and accommodations before buying a flight. There are some pretty good fares available from Atlanta right now.

The registration page said information would follow shortly. Anyone know when that will be?

I am planning on going. Currently, flights from Newark are crazy so I will probably just get in the car and drive. It's only around 275 miles one way.

In the past three weekends, I have driven to Tampa twice and to Toronto once. This is a cakewalk for me.

I guess an equally important question is are we arriving early, or staying late; what is the best beerpertunity? The training ends early Ths so I would probably stay through Friday.

                    The schedule is:
                    Wednesday, August 19 9AM to 5PM
                    Thursday, August 20 9AM to 12 noon

Unfortunately, due to some changed project deadlines, I won't be able to make it after all. Hopefully there will be another opportunity soon.

Re: V10 Training - who is going?

I am interested in attending the class, but I have a variable that may prevent me from going. Therefore, I am not sure if I will even sign up. My fiance is having surgery the week before the class, and she will need me around to take care of her. If she recovers quickly and there are no problems, I might be able to make it.

I don't see information about how much the training class costs? Would I be able to get a refund if I can't attend?

Will the class be recorded and made available to us?

                        Thank you.

I'd like to go but I'm not sure if it's of any value to me as I'm a "newcomer" to A5. Do folks think it would be good to go to for newcomer or should I concentrate further on V9, learning the in-and-outs of that before trying to delve into V10?

                              John,

We are all "newcomers" to V10. It may be a good chance to make some connections.

There is SO much to learn and know you may be saying the same thing when V11 comes out :)
