Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    open two reports at a time in two new windows

    hi all,

    i have two different reports and i have placed code to open these reports in two different A5w page.(1st report in 1st a5w page,2nd report in 2nd a5w page)

    problem: in afterupdate event of a grid i am calling report a5w page, it works fine.

    Now my new requirement is i have to open two different reports.
    which is placed in two different a5w page at the same time.

    i know using javascript it works with a5w page,but in case of a5w page which contains code to open reports is not working. it is opening only one report.

    thanks,

    the following code is from the a5w page
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta name="generator" content="Alpha Five HTML Editor Version 9 Build 1634-3197">
    <title></title>

    <script language="javascript">
    function opennew()
    {
    window.open ("http://www.google.com","mywindow","status=1");
    }
    </script>

    </head>
    <body onload="opennew()">
    <p>
    <%a5
    PrintBarCodePOno="34536-1"

    IF eval_valid("PrintBarCodePOno") = .f. Then
    goto skipreport
    end if
    dim args as sql::arguments
    args.set("PrintBarCodePOno",alltrim(PrintBarCodePOno))
    Dim filename as c
    dim libfolder as c
    libfolder = a5_removetrailingbackslash(Request.ApplicationRoot) + chr(92)
    reportname = "GRN_BARCODE_PRINTING_BCP@" + libfolder + "emanagement.alb"
    filename = session.session_folder + "tempreport.pdf"
    filename = report.saveas(reportname,"pdf","","",filename,.f.,null_value(),args)
    if file.exists(filename)
    response.redirect(session.session_url + "tempreport.pdf?" + time("hms3"))
    end if
    skipreport:

    %></p>
    </body></html>

    If you have response.redirect in the code it will always redirect to the first URL/report.

      Re: open two reports at a time in two new windows

      Is it opening two windows, but each with the same report? If so, and this example is similar to the other report, then your reports are named the same on the server, so the second overwrites the first. Your report is named "tempreport.pdf". Ensure each report is named differently.

      If both reports are opening in the same window, check the "mywindow" parameter. Not sure, but I expect this needs to be unique for each window you want to open.

      Also not sure, but I think the response.redirect() is ok. IF it has opened a new window via javascript, then response.redirect() is going to execute within that second window and not affect any other window.

        Re: open two reports at a time in two new windows

        thanks,

        I have two different reports in two different a5w.

        the method i am following is::

        1st a5w page has just one button, onclick of button i am redirecting to 2nd a5w page, in the 2nd a5w page onload i am redirecting to 3rd a5w page.
        (2nd and 3rd a5w pages has code to open two different reports)

        This logic works when 2nd and 3rd pages does not contain code to open reports, but if it contains code then, only 3rd page shows report and 2nd will be blank.

        (if 1st page directing to google and in 2nd page directing to yahoo, it works fine both the page will open)

        note: i think when control comes to 2nd page it will directly transfered to 3rd page, which skips the exceution of alpha code in 2nd page

        thanks
