Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

is it possible to have alpha five reports saved as jpeg files? if yes, how?

The help lists the choices as

Optional. Default = "PDF". The options for Format are:

    File Type

    Adobe Acrobat PDF Format.

Note : The PDF Printer drivers used in Version 7 will not create valid PDF files if you have created layouts that use a "percentage" as the property for the Background Fill property an object. The work around is to only use the "Solid", "Translucent" or "Transparent" option for the Background, Fill property.

    Dynamic HTML

    Rich Text Format

    Plain Text Format
    There can be only one.

      Re: REPORTS as JPEG

You could use a pdf to jpg converter like:

        Re: REPORTS as JPEG

if i use the pdf-to-jpeg converter, i will have to convert the pdf first in order to send it as jpeg right?

because, basically, what my boss wants to happen is to enable the customer to send their shopping cart to his email add in a jpeg format.

so my problem is, how will i generate the report and save it as a jpeg file?

        is this too complicated?

          Re: REPORTS as JPEG

Not that we all haven't encountered unreasonable requirements but isn't a pdf file universal enough for him? Why the insistence on jpeg? (The reason that jpg is not one of the output types for reports is that it is not a common way to output a document. Just as pdf, rtf, html, and txt files are not common types for pictures.)

how will i generate the report and save it as a jpeg file?
You can't do this in Alpha without a lot of work, supposing you can find a way to automate the pdf to jpg conversion. Just generating the pdf is built into Alpha. Can't he/she live with pdf files?
          There can be only one.

            Re: REPORTS as JPEG

Is this Shopping Cart report going to be just a single page always? If so, you could use
ui_bitmap_create_from_screen("test", 0, 1, 7, 10) on the OnPrintExit, save to a file , and send with an email....if this report is being created on the desktop side at least--webside may have other similar alternatives.
It is only when we forget all our learning that we begin to know.
It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.

              Re: REPORTS as JPEG

              thanks to all your replies.

i think i'll go with the pdf file format. it's a lot easier and if my boss wants a jpg file, i'll just send him a file converter so that the pdf file can be converted to jpeg. thanks you guys!:)
