Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Gary - if you don't have access to a server with SSL, email me an example xmldata file and I will try from both SSL and non-SSL.

Another thought: is the receiving computer limiting anything by IP address? I've done some work with this sort of thing, and could only test by using my server which was registered with the server receiving the xml file.

        Thanks guys.

So, I need to test this from a server that has SSL?

If that is the case, I can test it from my actual live server, that is running under SSL. Is that the recommendation?

Yes, with a valid SSL "named" Cert not a Cert created by A5.

          Lenny wrote this:

http_post_page2() is not server-safe. Prior to V10, it is disabled in the A5W environment. In V10, it is mapped to http_post() to approximate the functionality.

The answer not server-safe your using http_post in V9 be sure to ask Lenny that it is working correctly in your situation, If it/was bug it's fixed in V10, but also in V9 you have to ask him. But there are no recent postings on the board about http_post errors, so I expect no is the answer.

I've been playing with this. Does the API call for any special headers in the POST transaction? Do you have an API document with any instructions? Do you know if it is restricted by IP address (when I test it does not connect to the server suggesting my IP is not allowed).

                Re: XML HELP Please!!!

I checked the schema at the vendor and your output is missing serveral items, earlier remarks :

                Valid SSL Cert
You need a test name and password, accessnumber

At last an ip number requested Bingo Steve/Pat;)

You need to complete the schema output with all requested items

here you can download the schema : http://intellivative.com/docs/merchantAPI.xsd

                  Re: XML HELP Please!!!

Thanks everyone for the ongoing input.

I do think I have found the problem, and it does not appear to have anything to do with SSL.

My code creates a file that is nicely formatted and I confirmed with the processor that this is exactly what they want. They also state that ssl on my side has nothing to with their being able to receive the transmission.

However, when I use the file to string function to read that file back in to a variable, the function strips out all the tags!

Thus, my question is now, is there a way to use this (or any other function) that will NOT strip out the tags when reading the xml text file in to a variable?

                    Re: XML HELP Please!!!

You don't need to save the string out to a file in the first place. Generally replace your fp.write_line with something like this:

                    lst = lst + "<tag1>" +variable+"</tag1>" + crlf()
                    lst = lst +

so you build lst as the entire string, and send that as your post.

Are you sure of the URL you posted below, I get no response at that URL at all.

                      Hi Steve,

I am confused, because when I output the variable lst to the screen, none of the tags show up.

                      i.e.

                      ? lst

The won't in the browser. use save_to_file(lst,"c:\test.txt") to see the string, open in notepad.

Thanks Steve. OK, that verifies that the xml tags are preserved, so I was wrong, that was not the problem.

the schema shows that a ip is requested for access conformation.
Have you tried that in combination by using test name and password?

You probably need to speak to an engineer at the vendor house. Like I said, I get no response at all from that link, and I am sending over ssl with what I think is the proper script (works elsewhere).
