Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    ReportMailer not working in V10

I am evaluating V10 and the application that i want to use makes extensive use of the ReportMailer. It doesn't seem to work in V10??? Is there something that i have to do to get it to work?
When i installed V10 it notified me that the Reportmailer had been migrated... but it doesn't show in the Action Script AddIns list.

I tried reinstalling the original file that i downloaded but there is no option for V10.

    Anyone solved this problem???

      David,

Did you manage get theV10 Runtime version of ReportMailer to work on a client's PC?

We can use the developer version but not the Runtime

        Hi Michael

currently i am evaluating the developers version.... i do not have the RT.

Report mailer comes in two flavours... Dev & Runtime. did you reinstall the ReportMailer RT version into the A5V10RunEngine directory?

Re: ReportMailer not working in V10

          David,

Tried everything but I cannot get the V10Runtime engine to accept the runtime Reportmailer even though it runs with V9 Runtime engines.

Been in touch with Sales and they suggest I report as a bug but not sure if there is something that I should be trying first.

            Michael

When you look in the A5V10 RT directory:

            Control_Panel_Addins
            ReportMailer (property list)
            ReportMailer.Letter
            ReportMailer.Report

            Action_Script_Addins
            ReportMailer.Action

            addins_installed
            Reportmailer.Aex

Are all of these files present??

?did you copy them from the V9 directories? or did you actually do the install?

Re: ReportMailer not working in V10

              David,

Yes, all the relevant files are in place.

I don't think the Runtime Reportmailer will run in V10 because of licensing issues, so have reported as a bug and hopefully we will get a fix.

Re: ReportMailer not working in V10

The Runtime Reportmailer V10 version does work now in V10 but in V9 we could distribute our custom installs, silently but as yet have not found it possible to do the same with V10.

Presently the only way to install on a clients PC is to upload the RMsetup.exe to the clients PC then run and give them a licence key.

This should eliminate the need to make an entry in the registry.

Below are Selwyns instructions, but I cannot get to work on the clients PCs

How to Distribute ReportMailer for Alpha Five Runtime with Your Runtime Application

                  1. Your install program should install Reportmailer.aex in the following folder:
                  <RuntimeExecutableFolder>\addins_installed

                  2. Your install program should create a file called: ReportMailerRuntimeLicense.txt in the following folder:
                  <RuntimeExecutableFolder>

This file should contain your Reportmailer Runtime license number on the first line.

<RuntimeExecutableFolder> is the folder where the Alpha Five Runtime is installed.
Can anyone else get this to work?
                  Michael
