Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

My hair was thin to start with

    But its thinner now !!!!!!

Can anybody confirm the following problem when installing Version 10 runtime - The PDF printer driver will NOT install even when you ask it to and even when you are logged in as administrator it says you need to be logged in as Administrator.

This behaviour applies on XP / VISTA and WIN 7

    ALSO

Who agrees with the following statement

"If you have bought the runtime versions of Netmailer and Reportmailer and you create an install package using Alpha's inbuilt method these addins should be seamlessly included in your installation package"

Damn there goes another clump of hair.

    Hi Bob

I have just remotely logged into one of my clients running an app under XP using v10 runtime. The pdf driver is working just fine.

Regarding netmailer and reportmailer. I have managed to get netmailer working in the developer edition but not reportmailer. I did email Selwyn about this and he confirmed that they have not yet made an install for RM in v10. Have not tried either in the runtime yet.

      Hi Glenn

But had that machine previously had an older version of A5 on it. The problem seems to be getting the PDF driver to install on a clean machine even when logged in with full Administrator rights.
I have tried a clean XP machine, a clean Windows 7 machine and my Vista Laptop which interestingly has had other versions of A5 installed and that still refused to install the PDF driver.

        Glen,

Can you please confirm whether or not your user has the full Adobe software loaded (I don't mean the Reader) and/or do they have a full version of Alpha loaded.

This will help me narrow down the situation better.

It has had v9 runtime previously on it. Just firing up an old laptop which has no trace of A5 on it to test

It has the reader only installed and only the runtime. I have just installed the runtime on an old laptop running Win2k! (It does have Acrobat v4.0 installed) Everything has installed correctly and the pdf driver is working okay!

                      Hi All

Selwyn has emailed me to say he can now see the problem and it will be fixed.

                      Code:
if you ship the official a5v10 runtime install to the customer and they run that, it will work.

i have found the problem and it will be in the next patch.

when you run the official a5v10 runtime install, the amyuni drivers are installed.

however, when you run your own install, the amyuni drivers are NOT installed, and then when the user tries to print for the first time, they are installed on demand.

the 'install on demand' feature is not working because it is looking for the 'InstallAmyuniPrinters.exe' program in the executable folder.

the 'InstallAmyuniPrinters.exe' program is no longer installed in the root of the executable folder. it is installed in a sub-folder called 'AmyuniV4'

After you get the next patch, you will need to be sure that your own install program installs the files in the 'AmyuniV4' subfolder.
Don't know if this will resolve the 'Watermark' issue.
