Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: latest build

I haven't designed a report recently. Downloaded and installed latest patch because I was having an embedded browse problem. (Didn't solve it). When I go to design mode on existing report with new patch I get the toolbox on right and where the designed report should be are the icons for the reports. Some partial parts of report show up.

what sort of issues are you having with the embedded browse?

I just restored back to the V10 versions I had before the update, and all is well.

Hi guys - I just quickly tried and did not see any kind of problem opening either an existing report or starting to create a new one. Is there anything I should be especially looking for ?

it doesn't display the report in design mode - trys to, but doesn't. No problem, if enough other users have an issue will turn out to be legitimate, otherwise I'll just stick with my old build.

Do you mean that when you are in design mode and press preview, the report doesn't preview?

                Or something else?

Does the report preview if you open in preview mode and skip the design mode?

I've had that issue for a long time.... Seems when a report gets complicated enough this behaviour can kick in..

no - I mean if I open a report in design mode, as to maybe make changes, it doesn't open correctly - it trys to open the report, but hangs and either shows nothing or only a very small part of the report - kinda like a bleed issue or something.

                    Re: latest build

I forgot where I put previous patch so had to download again. With new patch in report design mode I get what Martin has. Tool bar shows up on right but report doesn't. I see report panel with all my report icons. Sometimes a few artifacts of what I recognize is in my report. Patched one version down and it works as expected.

Martin the embedded browse problem I have is in a set and when I click on row and scroll down it doesn't work. Was playing last night and copied set items from older back up and was getting close. Will explore that further tonight.

                      Hi Martin,

Opened existing and created new report with no problems.

                      Suggestion, re-download and re-install.

do you mean using the down arrow or the mouse - I sometimes have that issue with the mouse if I move around from one browse to another - am working on a new app in 10 where there are 3 embedded browses - parent, child, grandchild

Here are screen captures of what I have. I blanked out sensitive names under icons in 3506. 3504 is previous patch. Keith will try redownloading 3506 again.

Martin I have machine in one browse and when clicked on browse 2 shows repairs for that machine and browse 3 shows special parts and information tied to that machine. Click on browse 3 and row is highlighted and when scroll down it vanishes and the browse switches to different machine. Think set may be corrupted. As I typed this I launched V9 with my present V10 application and the browse works fine. Will have to try earlier patches as I thought it was working before.

OK guys, figured it out. Keith downloaded again and same problem. Opened Alphasports and it worked with control panel not maximized.(albeit the report was not showing maximized either) When you maximize it the toolbox shows fine.(as in previous post image) You have to click on window and click on the report. Now it seems to put report in back of control panel. Guess it is slightly different behavior from the previous patch.

IMHO its a bug - I never design a report except with the controlpanel maximized.
