Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Code Error Randomly?

    Code:
    17.  dim newEvent as p

    18.  t = table.open("xcalendar")
    19.  t.fetch_first()
    20. while t.eof() = .F.
    21.	NewEvent = gCalendarControl.activex.DataProvider.CreateEvent()
    22.	newevent.Subject = t.subject
    23.	newevent.location = t.location
    24.	newevent.body = t.body
    25.	newevent.starttime = t.startdate + " " + t.starttime
    26.	newevent.endtime = t.Enddate + " " + t.endtime
    27.	gCalendarControl.activex.DataProvider.AddEvent (NewEvent)
    28.	t.enter_begin()
    29.		t.Eventid = str(newevent.id)
    30.	t.enter_end(.T.)
    31.	t.fetch_next()
    32.  end while
    33.	NewEvent = gCalendarControl.activex.DataProvider.CreateEvent()
    34.	newevent.Subject = t.subject
    35.	newevent.location = t.location
    36.	newevent.body = t.body
    37.	newevent.starttime = t.startdate + " " + t.starttime
    38.	newevent.endtime = t.Enddate + " " + t.endtime
    39.	gCalendarControl.activex.DataProvider.AddEvent (NewEvent)
    40.	t.enter_begin()
    41.		t.Eventid = str(newevent.id)
    42.	t.enter_end(.T.)
    43.  t.close()
    Ok I have a table, "xCalendar" and in this table are the fields, Subject, location, body, startdate, starttime, enddate, endtime, and eventId.. This is a new error that has never occurred before and the code has not changed. So is something wrong here? Line number 37 says "OLE Error, can not assign to subProperty starttime". Yet it does it on line 25 just fine. Thanks in advance

    Adam

    insert the code:
    debug(1)

    to see what is happening. watch the values in t.startdate and t.starttime

    You've looped to the end of the table and the values are now gone.

      Yes, let's say there are 2 records in the table. The while statement loops over the first one, but when it checks if it is EOF after the first one, it comes back as true because it's at the end of the record list. So I must loop over it one more time to pick up the last record. But it is creating a blank record on the end when I go back to it so it is skipping record number 2 and trying to read a blank record at the end that is not there before the program starts. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated because it was working fine until today

        Problems solved. Apparently now it does not require the extra loop after the while statement. Thanks for your time

          well.. worked perfectly without the extra loop for about 10 minutes.. now it loads every record except the last one because it hits the EOF before it loads the last record.. ::sigh:: any ideas on how to get a permanent fix?

          FIX: Just did the extra loop again that uses fetch_eof.... this things driving me nuts.. thanks for your time

            What happens if you change:
            while t.eof() = .F.
            to
            while .not. t.fetch_eof() (or while t.fetch_eof() = .F. is you prefer)

            I can't see why you would want to test for "eof" in a loop like that.

            The <Tbl>.Fetch_eof() command allows your loop to finish running through all records. The "eof" simply tests to see if the current record is the last record. The definition for "fetch_eof()" is (emphasis added): Returns TRUE (.T.) if the most recent fetch in the table referenced by the <Tbl> object pointer has tried to read past the end of the file, creating an end-of-file condition.
