Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

How can I change table name with old form

    Hi all,

I have table nameed MEMBER.dbf with 10 records and I created form and use it with this table withno problem for a week.
After that I want to import member name to this table total 1,800 records instread of keyin the data manually. I done it like this
    1. duplecate the member.dbf to member-old.dbf (in case of if I have problem when import the data I can use this file later)

    2. I create an operation to import the data from Excel to table ,MEMBER
after I run the operation. It's successfully total 1,800 records and I browse it(double click, use the default browse) I can see more new record in the table for 1,800 records. I think it finishs and I can use the old form. The problem is..
when I start form I can see the old data only 10 records , not 1810 records.
** so I rename MEMBER.dbf to other name and rename MEMBER-old.dbf to
MEMBER.dfb ** when I open it with form I can see all 1810 records. I confuse here and done it twice. (do it late midnight)

Status now I have 2 tables member.dbf (I use the default browse it has 1810 records) and member-old.dbf (has 10 records)

I want to use the form with member.dbf that has 1810 records but I see the form in the title bar it refers and use data from member-old.dbf that has 10 records.
How can I use my form with the table that has 1810 records (member.dbf ) without create new form.

Member.dbf ---> 1810 records I want to use this table with my old form
Member-old.dbf ---> 10 records I don't want this table but my form refer and read data from this file (the title bar of form shows Member-old)

How can I use the old form without create new form with Member.dbf that has 1810 records in it.

    P.S. Member.dbf and Member-old.dbf has the same structures/field rules

Re: How can I change table name with old form

Right click on the name of the form you want (in the control panel).

    Choose Copy To...

Select the table that has the records you want, member.dbf.

In the control panel, forms tab, detail view, you should see

    formname member.dbf
    formname member-old.dbf

Open the formname form associated with member.dbf and verify proper behavior.

You can then delete member-old.dbf. The form associated with it will be deleted at the same time.

In the future I suggest you name tables with underscores (_) instead of dash/minus (-). Should you decide to keep such a table you won't encounter the issues attendant to using the (-).
    There can be only one.
