Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

how to allow the difference user login to start form

    Hi all Alpha experts,

I can use Tool--> Security--> Define Users and Group to create user name / password and group for login but after user login where and how I can setup the start form (mainmenu) for each user. May I have sample command for this

and in database security setting , how can I setup the auditing table
    what the table look like?

I want to use this tool due to I cannot write all code by myself now
I need a difference user login (I did it now) but after he login I don't know how to setup the start form for him or each user

    Thanks
    Peter-th

Re: how to allow the difference user login to start form

Why would you want a different startup form for different users (not allowed)? Put a conditional object on the form and show different options depending on who the user is.
    There can be only one.

      Hi Stan,

I want user startup form if he is difference department or difference form between manager and user.

Do you have the sample picture of the above quote for me to understand clearly how to use it, please

      Thanks

Take a look at the example attached to this thread.

The conditional object cycles through four choices when the user presses the up or down arrow key. It could just as easily display one of the four choices based on the user login. If more than four choices are needed they can be easily added.
        There can be only one.

          Peter-th,

There is an option for a different startup script for each user. You could make several very simple Action Scripts that each opens up a different form. Then attach the appropriate script to each user.*

          See attached image...

*Why they don't have this option for groups is beyond me.

            Hi Peter,

The point is I don't know how and what script I have to use in the Start Script. to initial open Mainmenu form when user login.

Do you have the sample the start script to open Mainmenu form (my first form for user)
I think I have to write the script in Code tab but I don't know what code I have to write it for this.

            Thanks

Re: how to allow the difference user login to start form

You can use Action Scripting to open up a form as a main menu. Create as many forms as you may need for the different users. Create a simple A.S. for each menu. Attach the scripts to each user as needed.

Re: how to allow the difference user login to start form

I believe what he is saying is that when the user enters their password into the password dialog, this could engage a script that directs action based on the password entered IF there was a known variable holding the value of the entered password. So what is the variable name and scope so the value entered in that password dialog can be keyed upon?

Don't know anything about a variable. All I'm saying is create how ever many menu forms you need. Create an action script for each menu form. Attach the appropriate script to each user. See image above in post #5.

                      Mike,

I changed it a little to make it easier for PeterTh to see what is going on. You had it set to all users share one account. I changed it to individual accounts. I changed the 3 users passwords to alpha, since I didn't know what you had then set to.

                        Hi Mike,

I don't know what variable holding the entered password. I use utility and add username/password for each user and it asks Startup script. I need it start a form after he login.

                            Mike,

I try your sample. It has only 1 user login and I have start up form manually.
Do you have one that when database startup and user can login with difference user and after individual user login it can start form for him

I try now setup Database properties and check the startup form (this form is main menu)
but the result is it can user only one , not for individual user

I try the Tool-->Security and add 3 users I can create individual for 3 username/password and it has Startup script field. I think this is for script to startup the form for each user but I don't know what script to key in this field .

                            Thanks

That is the sample I need. I can do the same with you has the difference username login and password but where you put the script to startup form after login?

I saw the the code tab it has Start_john, and Start_peter , Where I put this code after each user login?

                              Thanks
