Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

      Tim,

You mean just add start_john in Startup Script and when user login then this form will startup automatically?

      I will try it

      Thanks

        Hi Peter,

May I remind you that this was gone over in your previous post here

I also gave you a working sample. You said you would look at it but we heard nothing more. Did you not understand what had been demonstrated? Did you want something different to happen? What?

          Hi Keith,

Thank you for remind me. Due to my computer infected virus I try to load your working sample , open it but it has error and due to my hurry I try to help myself and try the Tools--->Security--->Define User/group I can create user and group but not success about Startup form after user login so I post a new thread. I'm sorry it's my fault I didn't inform you for this in the previous post you gave me a working sample.

For now I can load your sample ,open and try it with no problem. It works perfectly and is that what I want and also it can show the user login name.
After I learn the sample, it has an individual user in difference group , Main menu form and Name ;calculate field
          name = If(user_groups()="","The Administrator",upper(user_name()))

My question is where/how it can load Main menu form automatically afte user login. I find it but I didn't see it?

          Please advise

          Many thanks
          Peter-th

                  Yes, post #5 above.

                  ...security/define users and groups/edit user

Of course, you create the script to open the menu form under the code tab of the controlpanel.

                      Hi Peter,

Have you looked at the calculated fields on that form?

Re: how to allow the difference user login to start form

                        Hi Keith,

I can see the calculate fields below
                        name = If(user_groups()="","The Administrator",upper(user_name()))

I can do it now for the Administrator logged in , just drag the Name in calculate field into Rich Text area.

How about the Sales and Stores Logged in. I cannot do it same with you.
I can use Condition Object and set the Is_one_of() but I cannot let it display on the Condition Object area to show Sales/Stores Logged in?

Thank you for your kind suggestion

                          Hi Peter,

I think you must study what I have sent you.

You will not learn anything if every little detail needs to be explained.

You now need to examine the whole application, from the security to the form and all the objects on the form and understand how they all work together.
