I'm not sure where to post this question so I'll try here. I searched the forums for an answer but nothing came up. If there's another place that I might get better results with my question please let me know.
I'm a pretty novice user of Alpha Five but I have a project I'm trying to come to grips with that involves a fairly large MySQL database. It has it's own front end but I need to provide some custom reporting capabilities against it and have been trying to increase my knowledge of ways to interface with it.
I have been reading Dr. Peter Wayne's excellent book 'xBasic For Everyone' and have hit a roadblock at Chapter 58 - Upsize your database. The tables referred to in this chapter are not in the sample database. I thought maybe I could convert the similar ones in the sample database but the structure is not the same as the ones referred to in the chapter. Then I thought maybe I could just create my own but there doesn't seem to be enough information to completely recreate them.
I would really like to go through this chapter as it is relevant to what I am trying to accomplish but I am lost without the necessary resources to go with it.
Has anyone else successfully followed along with the last chapter in the book? What did you use for the 4 tables/data needed? I emailed Dr Wayne from the address provided on his website but got no reply.
