Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

  • Printing error

When I print a document via the PDF option, I get a "Printer not activated error code - 20".
When I look at the Alpha Five printer v4 printer in the printer setup and go to Properties and click on the ... for licensed to Alpha Software, the license information is blank. It seems that the printer is not activated.
Has anyone seen this error and what solution is available?
    Sincerely,

    Clarence Martin

      Re: Printing error

I had this problem - believe it happened when I installed the last patch. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. There is a simple solution. I believe it will work with any operating system.

1 - Navigate to the A5V10 program folder and open it

2 - Navigate to the AmyuniV4 folder and open it

3 - Find the file "InstallAmyuniPrinters" and run it.
(I actually had to run the file twice because Windows said that it didn't think that it installed properly the first time)

        Hi NickH214,
I tried that - no such luck!
The printing window does pop up and just stays locked up.
It's closer now but still not working.

          Re: Printing error

Clarence, the sequence is to preview the report, then use the file menu to "Save As" PDF. Is this what you're doing? It almost sounds like you're trying to select the PDF driver as the printer object and then print to that object.... while that approach works in other applications, that's not the sequence in Alpha Five.

            Re: Printing error

            Hi Tom,
That won't work either - it is the same as using the icons on the toolbar. The only way that I can make PDF's is to print and select the Adobe PDF printer in my printer dialog box.
Although this works, I still want the fuctionality provided by Alpha Five in the menus. The supplied Alpha five adobe converter seems to be a problem for me.

            Thanks,

            Clarence

                Re: Printing error

                OK,
I finally did something that is sort of "Last Ditch". I uninstalled my Alpha Five V10 and re-installed it. All printing works just fine now. I guess my printer driver was corrupt and for some reason I could not re-install over it.

                Thanks to everyone who replied.

Sorry if this posting was sort of petty.

This was kind of perplexing because I was sure that this worked before, but now it is resolved.
