Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    I am having issues getting some code to work. It was working, but I dont know what I broke. Now it works intermittently.

    Code:
    'Date Created: 23-Jun-2010 09:22:28 AM
    'Last Updated: 28-Jun-2010 11:25:16 PM
    'Created By  : brainchild
    'Updated By  : brainchild

    '{48ae2b14-bdfd-49b6-b168-924bb576516d}'

    FUNCTION image_publisher AS P (key AS C )
    dim tbl as p
    dim file as C
    dim args as sql::arguments
    if eval_valid("arguments") then
        if typeof(arguments) = "P" then
            args = arguments
        end if
    end if

    tbl = table.open("images",args)

    tbl.query_create("N","Link_Id=\""+key+"\"","")

    i = 0
    while .not. tbl.fetch_eof()
        dim container as P

        dim fptr as B
        container.name = tbl.NAME
        container.image = tbl.IMAGE
        file = A5.Get_Path()+"\Images\Items\\"+ trim(container.name)+".jpeg"

        if container.name <>"" then
        test = file.exists(file)
            if (test == .f.) then

                'create file pointer

                fptr = file.create(file, FILE_RW_EXCLUSIVE)
                'save blob

                fptr.writeb(container.image)

                'close file pointer
                fptr.close()
                'upload_address = "Items\\"+ trim(tbl.NAME)+".jpeg"+""
                'ftp_file_xfer(address,user,password,file,upload_address,"put",.f.,upload_address)
            end if
        delete container
        delete fptr
        end if

        tbl.fetch_next()
        i=i+1
    end while
    tbl.close()
    '
    image_publisher.count = i
    image_publisher.file = file
    END FUNCTION
    this code returns this sometimes
    Code:
    ?image_publisher("{48ae2b14-bdfd-49b6-b168-924bb576516d}")
    = count = 2
    file = "C:\Users\brainchild\Documents\Databases\Austin_Cox\New folder\Images\Items\test_duplicate.jpeg"
    so i know it is getting the records i need.

    but then it will say this:
    Code:
    ?image_publisher("{48ae2b14-bdfd-49b6-b168-924bb576516d}")

    ERROR: command:             fptr.writeb(container.image)
    Not found
    fptr.writeb method not found.
    it creates empty files with no images inside.

    Perhaps I did something wrong with the code.

    Thanks for helping me out

    Re: fptr.writeb method not found

    Post a zipped sample database with this code and we can walk through it.

      Re: fptr.writeb method not found

      Here is a database that has the script and table.

      I was using this code to test with:
      Code:
      ?image_publisher("{48ae2b14-bdfd-49b6-b168-924bb576516d}")
      I think i just messed the code up some how but I have scoured the help file and can't seem to find the stuff I need.

      Thank you for your help

        Re: fptr.writeb method not found

        Seems like it's in the file creation process.

        I replaced some code with one line...

        Code:
        			file.from_blob(file, container.image)
        			'''fptr = file.create(file, FILE_RW_EXCLUSIVE)
        			'save blob

        			'''fptr.writeb(container.image)

        			'close file pointer
        			'''fptr.close()
        Don't create the file and then write to it... use file.from.blob. This creates the file and writes to it for you.

        I've run it several times with no failure and the image file gets created every time.
