Number of Mondays in Month?

Hi Guys,

I'm sure there is a function to tell me now many Occurences there are of a given day of the week in a month.

ie: How many Mondays in MONTH(Date())

Pointers appreciated.

Look in V4 area. I think Ira wrote a function for that maybe 7 or 8 years ago.

Keith, here is a script that should return the number of (any day)'s for any day of the week for any month for any year. It could easily be made into a function.

If Ira sees this, he will do the same thing in a single line, though.

Could you please elaborate. Is this meant to be a for a calculated field?

= 4

7 is the month
2010 is the year
There are 4 Mondays in July 2010

?If(nth_dow("Mon",2,2010,5)={},4,5)
= 4

And there are 4 Mondays in Feb 2010

?If(nth_dow("Mon",3,2010,5)={},4,5)
= 5

There are 5 Mondays in March 2010

If you want it just for the current month, then modify it to:

?If(nth_dow("Mon",month(date()),year(date()),5)={},4,5)
= 4

Not now, but give Nancy Pelosi a little more time, there will be.
P.S.
When testing numeric, no need to use IIF.
I think it was a typo.
Actually, in this case it was date. No need for that either.

In my humble (and not so humble) opinion, political statements, whether arguably accurate or just dumb ones like the one above, have no place on a board like this.

way back, in the olden days, in version 4, it was advised to use iif() instead of if() as the system would otherwise somtimes confuse it with the if-end if

but I never had an issue using if() anyway
