Record search issues and editing

I'm working on a phone directory application. Currently I'm experiencing the following issues:
1. The firsrt issue is with a form. This form is order by employee number. Now this form has multiple searchable fields. So when I run a find on the first name "John" the find sends me to the first John it comes across by order of employee number however when click to go to to the record it takes me to the next record by employee number instead of taking me to the next first name 'John' record. Is there a way I can view all the John record after a find?

2. My second issue is that when an browse view is opened it still allows any potential end user to edit records. I want to avoid that. My question is this how do I make sure that nobody can edit these records upon opening a browse in my app.

I can help with one a little. Users should not be allowed access in most cases to anything they can mess up.

Restrict access to the Alpha control panel from any form or elsewhere, Provide a browse(imbedded?) in a/your form that has restrictions in it that users cant get to. In other words, a browse where they can look or maybe edit, but not enter a new record.

This one is a little harder. I don't use a form filter. I do use a query which is kinda the same thing, but done different.

I do this with a drop down on a button and works great. Pay special attention to the part in red. I think it will do what you want. I gave the whole button push so maybe there are other ideas to help you. any reference to fields would have to be changed, of course.
