Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Automatic script not working in Win 7

The script I set up some years ago now does not automatically run on timer.
Below is the script I'm using. Anyone see anything wrong with it?

Open the interactive when the time is 11 and type in

    ? time("h")

to see what you get. Possibly you/Win7 have some setting that is interfering.
    There can be only one.

      Stan,

Thanks for your input. I will try this later today when I get back home. I am also having the same problem in Windows XP. This is on the samecomputer that its been on for a few years and it used to work without a problem.

        Stan,

I did use the ? time("h") function in the interactive window at it was correct at "11" I tested this with setting different times and checked an each one was correct. I then watched the system when the computer clock hit the selected time and nothing happened.

Are you talking about the xdialog {timer=} or
          SCRIPT_SCHEDULE() function

Fred, you've got two (at least) things that need to be checked separately.

            1) Is Alpha triggering your calling script at the right time? Add a message box to your calling script so you can confirm that the calling script is firing ok.

            2) If the calling script is working, then there's something wrong in the called (PmixA) script. It's not running. Is it present on the code page of your A5 control panel? Maybe the called script is malfunctioning. Maybe it can't find the files or folders you are manipulating. Check for pathing issues.

              Mark,

He's using form ontimer event and playing a script once a day.

                Tom,

It is not triggering as it did in A5V* and the early versions of V10. I have run the old version created in V8 and it works every time. The trigger event is simply not working. I even set the seconds from the 3600 for an hour to 300 to see it it would exicute each five minutes. It never triggers at all. I beleive it is non functioning now in the newer versions of Alpha5 V10

This will be a big setback for users buiulding allplications that need to exicute a script to do certain function with a applicatins for business.

Re: Automatic script not working in Win 7

Using build 3739_3629 of A5v10 I don't see a problem with the onTimer event on my Win7 Pro (64 bit) box.

Suggest you trace my steps to see if you get the same result.

Open the CustomerInformation form in AlphaSports in design mode.
Set timer interval (in properties of form) to 30 seconds
Add the following script to the OnTimer event:
                  Code:
                  msgbox("Timer","has fired")
                  Save the design changes
                  View the form.

The msgbox should appear in 30 seconds, and then reappear every 30 seconds thereafter.

                    Thanks Tom,

I'll try that. The script runs every time when I run it from the control panel but will not run on timer. I will ad the message to my script to see if it fires.

Don't forget to set the timer interval in the properties of the open form.
