Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Printer Driver

How do I go about reloading the AlphaFivePrinterV4 printer driver on a Windows 7 computer? Right now the system locks up when I try to print anything to the driver. Thanks

    Re: Printer Driver

Under the Alpha program folder you should find

    InstallAmyuniPrinters.exe

In some Alpha versions it is found in the AmyuniV4 directory under the program folder.

You're really not trying to print using the driver, are you? It's only licensed/available for Alpha to use, not like standalone driver.
    There can be only one.

      Re: Printer Driver

Thanks Stan for the quick reply...I found the file and reloaded the driver and got the same results. I am trying to email a PDF file generated from an A5 report. When I look at my printer selections I have:

      AlphaFivePrinter V4on LPT1:
      Amyuni Document Converter on LPT1:

For the "Send a Report as an Email Attachment" option I select "Adobe Acrobat PDF File" and then click on send. Then the system locks up on initializing. See graphic for the message. I have to abort from here. In addition, even if I select "Amyuni Document Converter on LPT1:" in the report printer definition, it still shows "AlphaFivePrinter V4on LPT1:" when I try to send the email.

EDIT: After sending the above post, I looked at my printers and the AlphaFivePrinter V4on LPT1: is GONE, only the Amyuni Document Converter on LPT1: is there. If you go into the Printer definition for the report, the AlphaFivePrinter V4on LPT1: printer is still part of the options. I am puzzled...

That's not the way to do it. In the report definition choose default printer or specify a real printer. When you "Send a Report as an Email Attachment" option I select "Adobe Acrobat PDF File" and then click on send, Alpha uses the Amyuni driver to create the pdf. You don't ever specify the Amyuni driver as something to print to.

Also, I believe the port should be nul:
        There can be only one.

          Re: Printer Driver

Making some progress. I went in and deleted the Anyuni Device and reloaded the driver. Now instead of locking up I get the following:

          pdfnotinstall.png I clicked on YES
          pdfnotinstall2.png
          pdfnotinstall3.png
          pdfnotinstall4.png

I went in as admin and reloaded and it did not work.

            You might try

            A5_InstallAmyuni()
            There can be only one.

It's a built in function. In the interactive window

                A5_InstallAmyuni()
                There can be only one.

Thank you Stan and Alan....got it to work....deleted the driver and reinstalled thru the interactive window "(A5_InstallAmyuni()". Still had problems but went to printer properties and changed the port to NUL: per Stans instructions. Bingo, that did it...still have to setup some of the email parameters but all is looking good...once again THANKS

                      Re: Printer Driver

We're having similar issues on a client's Win 8.1 machine.
We ran the amyuni.exe and got the "would you like to install" message when we ran a function that saves a report as a pdf. Chose "yes" then saw the A5Printerv4 listed as a printer. But when the function continues (or is run again, I can't remember which) the computer hangs. The report gets saved but there's nothing in it.

Couldn't figure out how to change the printer port from LPT1 to Nul but that's not surprising because I needed the client's help finding the damn control panel in Win 8.

Don't know that this adds anything to the thread except you're not alone.
