Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Under the tools menu in v11, there is not selection of "Feature Packs". Did I miss something?

Open the tools menu, select Feature packs and the follow the prompts. That should work.

    I received 4 v11 feature packs.
1 Google Map Component Feature Pack
1 Image Gallery Component Feature Pack
1 Video Gallery Component Feature Pack
    1 Calendar Component Feature Pack

These are v11 feature packs, not v10. How are new feature packs installed?

You missed the change as did I. There is no such thing as the v10 feature packs in v11 because they are built in. IOW, they don't show up as feature packs. They are part of v11 just as any other file which is a part of v11. If you are seeing feature packs, they should be v11 feature packs.

Re: Feature Packs Activation in V11

I now have V11 and there are 4 Feature packs that were sent. In v10, there was a choice under "Tools" to install Feature packs. When I opened v11, this is not there. I am not writing about v10 Feature packs that are now part of v11, only the 4 new Feature packs. Were those already included or did I miss a change? Thanks.

all v10 feature packs are built into v11 - so no need to install them.

No. As I said the FPs are built in by default.

Are you perhaps referring to the auto-suggest feature of a lookup??

The 'Advanced Search' Feature pack for the Grid component allows you to:

Embed Search Part in the Grid (above, or below Grid titles)
Embed a free-form Search Part in the Grid (above, or below Grid titles)
Animate the Search part when it is hidden/shown

In addition, the 'Advanced Search' Feature pack also allows you to:

    Define custom sort expressions

All of these items appear in V11.

The types of lookups are defined for the fields you are looking up.

Not really sure what exactly you are referring to.

When creating a grid with a search part, do you know about what was the advanced search feature pack. I am not able to find any settings for a progrressive find, etc.

Yes, that is what I am saying and what has been posted in the wiki.

    Feature Packs Incorporated into V11
The short summary: All V10 Feature Packs come standard in V11.

What you are saying is, the v10 feature packs are installed in the v11 beta. Are they integrated so that they do not show as a feature pack, just show as a "normal" part of v11 with no activation or license number?

    Kenn,

You cannot activate any feature paks in V11, because there are none yet. All V10 feature packs are included in V11. You should be able to access any V10 FP features now. If you cannot, submit it as a bug.

I suspected that is the reason. However, why can't the feature packs be activated? I need to use a few of them and would it not behoove Alpha to include them as part of the beta testing?
