Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: help me...

    Gibson, welcome to the message board.

    On your first question I believe the checkmark is available as a formatting option when you drop a logical field into your report layout.

    On your second question radio buttons are designed to work like the buttons on old car radios. Only one button can be pushed at a time, and when that happens the other buttons are released. The radio can only play one station at a time if you see what I mean.

    ps - Two quick comments to help you here on the msg board.

    a) Limit your posts to one question at a time. Ok to start multiple posts, but the board doesn't work well when multiple questions are embedded in a single post.
    b) If you use a subject line that contains the key words involved in your issue the board will automatically search for related message threads and display them in a list at the bottom of your screen (scroll down to see). In this thread your subject line is unrelated to the issue you have, so you missed out on the automatic help the board will supply.

        Have the field or variable represented by each be distinct (not the same).
        There can be only one.

            Re: help me...

            Define a calculated field for your report.

            chk = if(l,chr(80),"")

            Place the calculated field on the report where you want the check. Format the font of the calculated field object to be wingdings2, font size as desired.

            check.gif
            There can be only one.

                  Re: help me...

                  actually im working out with this report to change the detail in the field for example i want to show a check mark in my report instead of a text..

                  like this:
                  health Insurance
                  yes

                  instead of "yes" i want to change into a "checkmark"

                  like this:
                  Health Insurance
                   ----> this is the checkmark "wingdings"

                  this is what i want to achieve...

                    Re: help me...

                    Your "health insurance" field should be a logical field type. It will store a logical true or a logical false. (which can also have the display format yes/no).

                    When that is set up correctly the suggested expression for the calculated field will take care of the checkmark.

                    chk = if(logical_field,chr(80),"")
                    There can be only one.

                        Gibson, perhaps you're trying to run before learning to walk. Have you worked through the User's Guide in the Help system? ( It's one of the reference books Alpha supplies. )

                        Still have questions after that, send me a private message or e-mail. (Just click my name in the column on the left.)

                          You're on the right track.

                          In the expression

                          chk = if(logical_field,chr(80),"")

                          use your actual field name instead of logical_field. Since I didn't know what that was I used a generic.
                          There can be only one.
